Here is the Idaho 2007 USTRC roping
http://www.ustrc.com/Results/Details2.asp?DL=0&EventUID=5464 As you see roping is a big business you can rope any day somewhere in the US for money. One of the reason for the growth is the USTRC # system also you don't have to be a member of the USTRC but 99.9% of roping held that are open to any roper use the # system and a # will be assigned at the time of entry if no one knows who you are and you get a low # then win the roping and the guys putting on the roping figure you should of had a higher # you won't get paid. Lower # are based on how you handle a horse and rope as you move up in #'s then it's on money won over a period of ropings getting lucky at one roping doesn't mean a move up and as we get older and slower # go down. Alot of older ropers winter in Az afew years ago I was down there in Feb and they had 400 team at a jackpot Scottsdale/CaveCreek area think the average age was in the 70's.

Tom,
I go to Arizona every year for 30 or 45 days, sometimes to Lonestar Equestrian in Coolidge and sometime to Wickenberg...We practice rope every day for $10.00 a horse and then make 2 or 3 ropings on the weekends..I usually break about even on expenses if I am lucky..It is a great time for all of us and you make a lot of good friends that will be your friend for a lifetime ( not long to go in my case! animal

Arizona is a huge roping community, and I can't think of a better way to keep fit and young than a yearly trip to Arizona when the snows are deep in Idaho...
