What's a tang safety Ruger M77 in .458 Win Mag worth?

I just saw one, mint condition, for $999. Seems high to me. But it's something I've always wanted and very rarely see.

They come up regularly on this board; I paid 700 shipped for mine and it came with brass and dies but had been cut for a Pachmayr pad. In pure mint condition with box and papers the gun is worth 1000, but if it is just a very clean gun that has been fired and carried then I would pay, at most, 700. This is just my opinion though, and if it is what you really want then go for it. But if you're patient you can find one for less.

One just sold here in Tucson (in fact I posted the gunshop they were in on here) about 2 weeks ago. It was minty condition. A 77rs and not the 77rsc with Circassian stock. Fair piece of plain wood. It went for $500.
