Hi all, I got my 12ga slug barrel in the mail today. It's from shaw. It's 1.27" OD and 25 1/4" long.

That's a 300RUM case in the bore.

Set next to the action and a rimmed BMG case.

I cut a sliver off the inside of the action tang to send off for analysis, but misplaced it. I'm hopeing it will show up soon as I really don't want to do anymore cutting on it.

I'm going to have another go at a 12ga slug mold. If it doesn't turn out this time, I'll just order one from www.mountainmolds.com

Couple more thoughts here. ON another thread it was mentioned that Pac-Nor was haveing trouble with their 12gafh button. If they don't get it sorted out, I wonder if Shaw could do one useing a larger diameter blank? The SHaw blank was only like $100 ish

I was thinking of fireforming the rimmed cases in my regular 12ga shotgun. I'm thinking 20-30gns 2400 with a felt wad, then cereal filler after annealing the neck and sholder. Thoughts?

Lar-Pacnor's second reamer is working, and they will
have barrels in a couple weeks, and if anyone wants real heavy 12GA FH barrels they should call now.. BUT it would be nice to have Shaw do heavier and longer barrels. In the past they never wanted to in big calbers. What exact bore and groove diameter diameter is it?Be nice to have more
companies making big bore barrels.
Are you going to shorten cases, as you mention fire forming in another gun? Did you make rimmed case?Ed.

I didn't slug the barrel yet, but with a dial caliper it looks like .712x.728". The twist is 1:26 or 28 I think, not the 1:20 like you guys ordered. I put the rims on the BMG cases. I was just thinking of blowing them out to get them alot closer even though the end of the case would be inside the shotgun barrel instead of chamber, I don't think it would hurt anything with a filler fireform load. I'm ordering a cheap smooth bore 12ga blank and I'll have a go at building the chamber reamer and use it on the elcheapo blank first. If it doesn't work, then I'll send a sketch to PTG for a floating pilot reamer. I think I'm going to use a bushing for 209 shotgun primers instead of BMG primers as I'm only looking at 20ksi or so.

This project shows promise. Please keep us updated. It might be best to test fire the rifle remotely (string tied to trigger) for a few rounds before putting it to your shoulder, just in case.

Lar--It won't hurt fireform it like that, then cut it to the length you wanted. Now the brass chamber will have to have taper to it as the brass out on the top of case isn't as thick as plastic or paper. So you want to size case after
it is length you want, to just fit bullet tight then take
measurements for chamber. If you made chamber straight like
regular chambers it would overwork the brass.
.004 clearance at top will work fine and don't thin the sides on top, but leave it as thick as possible. And as long
as you make chamber longer then you can still fire 2 3/4
plastic shot shells.I made a model of chamber full length and 2 3/4 shotshells fit easy.Ed.

500, I'll make a jig to hold it to the bench then pull the string from the other side of the truck as well.
