I am in the process of purchasing another 458 rifle as a working gun and need some information. Can anyone who has similar / knows anything about this rifle; give me some pointers, pros & cons etc. about it? It will be highly appreciated. Dream it...Discover it...Experience it... What is the exact model name: Safari Express, Super Express, Classic Super Express, etc.? Is it a custom shop or regular production rifle? ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

I do not recognize that model but the stock appears to have been altered. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

The rifle pictured does not appear to be a Controlled Round Feed, meaning that it does not have the Mauser style extractor. As such that rifle should not be selected for any type dangerous game (DG) use, unless you will be backed up by a professional hunter who has an appropriate DG rifle. The caliber is certainly sufficient and has been proved to be capable of taking any size game all the way up to elephant and Cape buffalo. They are a good, solid rifle and the only issue with them is that you have to keep the extractor clean, especially in Africa as your ever present dust and dirt can build up under it enough to cause it to slip off the rim. Which isn't a bad idea for your crf m70s too. My family has had two of these for years and they have been completely trouble free.

Watch your Crossbolts as they seem to work loose now and then. Suggest you swap the factory action screws for Allen Head Screws. I have the CRF's in .375, .416, and .458 I pillar bedded all of them. I recommend Devcon 50110 for bedding as it out performs any other bedding agent I've tried. My gunsmith put a 11 degree crown on them and they all shoot under 1 MOA. Just my .02 cents worth.
