I have CZ American in 375, sent it to well known barrel maker to accurize, polish bore, trigger job, crown muzzle, bed.

I can't get the rifle to shoot. Tried many different handloads. Tonight I pulled the action out of the stock, it has the two bolts in action, then in the stock it has another bolt onto a floating attachment onto the barrel. I had never noticed the third bolt. What is this? it also has a steel plate between the third screw and the action. It also had a washer fall out when I took it apart, don't know where it came from.
I was ready to rebarrel the rifle, now I might have a McMillan fiberglass stock installed. I have never had a rifle shoot this poorly before. My Sako would shoot 3 shot cloverleaf groups.
I really like the CZ, weight = lack of recoil. It is going to be my backup gun for Tanzenia in August.
Any help appreciated.

Gi,
The steel "F" plate and the third screw make up a 2nd recoil block to take some of the pounding off of the stock. The threaded washer is what is supposed to provide the additional support for the lug. If you know you are shooting the gun well. try having the gun glass bedded. What did the test target that came with the gun look like? Try some remington green box 375 factory ammo. If the gun don't shoot OK with that stuff then you may have issues.

I had two 602s. The .300WM shot best with Fed Premium 200gr TBBC, while .375 with Win 300gr Silvertips.
Those targets that came with my rifles were virtually worthless:
1. The holes had no rough edges, and looked like they were done with a paper punch.
2. The brand of ammo, bullet type and mass used were not stated.
Did you test for accuracy before you had custom work done?

No didn't test for accuracy before the work was done. I heard from many people that they are very accurate rifles. I am baffled how a rifle can be accurate while being bolted to stock ahead of the action. Sent it to Hart, bedded stock smoothed action did trigger job crowned muzzle and also polished or honed the bore.

Does anyone know who could install a fiberglass stock by mid July, my hunt is in August. The 375 will be my backup in case I have problems with my 470 NE.

If it does not shoot after fiberglass stock, I will have it rebarreled.

Here is the problem I had with bedding my CZ 550 Safari. I used super glue to position the F Block, then glassed it into the stock.

Factory Groups were 3" at 50 Meters. My groups are now less than 1" 100 yds.

Gi,

Don't have a .375 but have a 9,3x62 CZ American and a .416 Rigby CZ Hogback. The 9,3x62 is bone stock and shoots 1" to 1 1/4" at 100 with 286 Noslers.

The Rigby has had a boat load of work done on it including a trigger job, a second recoil lug, two additional hidden crossbolts, a rod down the wrist, and a full bedding job. It shoots 350 gr Barnes X bullets driven to 2687 fps into 1 1/4" at 200 yards.

I'd always heard that CZ 550s were kinda a good start toward fine things. The 9,3x62 may be an exception to that generalization, but the Rigby certainly fits it very well.

I assume you're heading for Buf in August. What bullets have you tried? TSXs or Northforks might work better than the original Barnes Xs.

I'm going with Woodleighs SPs in the .470 NE and Barnes Xs in the .416.

I am going to send my 375 to Brockman and have it stocked with laminate stock.

Hopefully that will end my accuracy problems

Going to use the 500 Woodleigh softs and woodleigh solids in left barre.

The 375 will be A-frame 300 gr. will also bring some solids, don't know what kind, I have some Hornady, will see how they shoot. The 375 will go to Brockmans this week.

Plan to use the 470 unless the range will be over 100 yards. I will be hunting a flood plain that whould be dry by August, high grass, should get 50 to 70 yard shots.

I bought the cz & it sat in safe for a long time. Took it out when I decided to go to Africa & hunt buffalo.

I really liked the gun except for the "wimpy" bolt handle, sent it to Chris Matthews & he installe a sniper bolt handle, sounds bad but it is perfect, very easy to grip.

Then sent the gun to RW Hart. had him bed action, polish bore, crown muzzle and do trigger job.

Shot the gun at last and it would not group. Really looked at the gun and the forend was high out of the stock, took it apart and found all these misc pieces in there. I think Hart bedded the action too high.

Sent the gun yesterday to Brockman for new stock and bedding. After reading everyone's post on CZ, I feel the gun will now shoot the way it should when I get it back.
