I don't know just how many of you get Hatari Times, but it seems well worth the subscription to me. The latest edition came to the house today, and there is a very in-depth article on Asian Buffalo hunting in the Land of Oz. In fact, the entire magazine is Australian DG hunting. One Graham Williams, PH/Outfitter, has created a rather easy to make wildcat. It looks as if it would be very easier to make out of 458 Lott or 416 Remington brass. He makes use of the old .425 WR diameter bullets in a blown-out 375 H&H case and some stomping weight 450gr Woodleigh bullets. Those things must be two inches long. He had an interesting rationale for the cartridge, the 416 Rigby "was a trifle too light, and a 458 Lott or 500 Jeffery was too heavy(!)...". Interesting logic, to say the least. Still, it would be fun to build one, if Woodleigh could be induced to import the bullets. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

Rich, Looked into it awhile back, its called the 435PH and I think a reamer is also in the States ... as of October 2007 a second rifle should be in the field locally. Rebored 0.435" barrels by Sprinter. I think Woodleigh made him a one-off run of x1000 (???)450gr FMJ's which Graham Williams purchused all of ... Woodleigh certainly had none when I enquired last March and weren't about to do another run. In my case I was considering a 435RUM to really be different ... obscure and vague ... if a 400gr and 450gr combination where available from Woodleigh. Also considered a 435" on the 300WinMag case. I think from memory Graham mentioned he was running a Sabatti 500Jeffery as his personal guiding rifle. Cheers... Con
