Sorry about having to ask this, but the search function is down. I need to buy some reloading components for the Gibbs to make some action proving dummies and get ready for makingf ammo in a few months. I am looking at Horberner cases and Woodleigh solids from Huntington's. I was wondering about dies. I have heard enough about the CH4D dies to know I don't want to go that route. What else is there? Also, Can I use a Ruckchucker press? Thanks. ANd sorry again for having to re-ask this

I will leave the die question open because my CH4D dies serve me quite well for 1/2 or less the cost of RCBS in odd calibers.

However, you may want to consider getting a new press. It is really a hassle to use a Rockchucker for long cartridges. You will have to unscrew the die and screw it back in for each cartridge to get clearance. For the .500 NE on a Rockchucker, I also have to slide the shellholder out and slide it back in for each cartridge. It is slow. My personal favorite is the Redding Ultramag press.

What about the new Rockchucker supreme? I don't have one yet but need a new press since I can't reload my 375 and won't be able to do the 458 Lott either with the little RCBS JR. I have (I think that is the model, it's older than I am).

I can easily load 505 on my Rockchucker Supreme. 500/416 3-1/4 inch is easy too. I think I paid $99 for it from Midway. FWIW, my CH4D dies in 505 and 550 magnum have worked fine. (In all fairness, the 550 is not complete and I have not resized any fired cases yet but they load new cases fine).

I bought both Horneber and Bertram 505 brass. Side by side there is no comparison. A friend's Champlin 505 won't even chamber 505s loaded with Bertram because the neck is too thick to fit. Imagine the potential for disaster if it had just barely fit?!!!

I will probably neck-turn my Bertram and save for cast bullet plinking loads; I think it will do fine for that.

ch4 dies have worked well for me in .585 Nyati....I will soon be adding a set in 50-110 win, I can't justify the extra $100US (125aprox AUS) for RCBS.

I also have aan Aussie made press called the "zero" for larger rounds....despite my rc working for Nyati rounds I wanted a little more room. It is a great press and the Aussie Army uses them for .50 bmg stuff.
