My friend is "over-gunned" (like me) and is sending me pix of his 2 Reimer Johannsen Magnum Mausers, in 375 H&H and 416 Rigby. I'll post them up once I get the photos.

At one time years ago, I tried to lay my hands on one.. Just no way to get one here in the states without long wait & great expense.. Perhaps things have changed since then.. Wonderful pieces no doubt MopaneMike

Why can't he? You get to bring two in, and if you bring your wife or your girlfriend, but not both on the same trip, that's four rifles. 75 rifles divided by four a trip, that's only nineteen trips... Okay, buy one more safari rifle, that's nineteen.

Reimer Johannsen is an awesome gun builder and definatly one of the best..but there are some US gun makers just as good IMO, Frank Haugh, would be my first pick I believe, but there are a number of great US gun makers out there that follow the English/African style of gun making, a style that I demand in my personal guns.. The most important thing is for the buyer to know what that type of rifle should look like in the first place, many have a general idea, bug miss the subtle additions, that make a world of difference. Is he not just and agent who gets the work done by someone else? This was may understanding from Dr Lucas Potgieter who imported the barreled-actions as well as complete rifles into SA. Pieter

He is the builder as I understand..Never heard that questioned, but could be..at any rate the guns themselves are awesome.. If that is the case and I wanted a typical English type rifle form a European maker then I would want Harold Wolfe to build me a gun.. But living the USA, I would much prefer a local to make such a gun, its less complicated..and we have some very good smiths that can build a typical English rifle. Haugh, Echols, and a host of others, but be sure you know what a English rifle looks like are you will end up with a cross bred stock.
