What sling swivel do you reccomend for a nice classic wood DG rifle?

If it doesn't come already equipped with the swivel that you have to remove a screw to detach, then the only choice would be Uncle Mike's Super Swivel, for me, even if I have to drill out the eye a hair to accept. But that is just my opinion. I don't like any others as much, and I have tried to like them all.

If you are ashamed of being seen with Uncle Mike's Super Swivels on your rifle, take it off and stick the sling in your pocket when others, whom you are trying to impress, may be looking at your rifle. Replace the sling when they are not looking. Wink

WinkI am old school and appreciate any thing that functions with simplicity. The Uncle Mike's swivel has performed very well for years and is very much appreciated. If there is something on the market that would go along with this nice piece of English Walnut I would like to see it or hear about it??

we all have a different idea what a swivel looks like for a DGR...here's mine:

I'm with Vapodog on this one, that is the only swivel set up I want on a DGR...I only use them to carry the gun, not shot it..It is designed to keep ones hand from getting nicked up by recoil...

I always have a sling in my pack, but I never carry a gun "slung" when hunting DG..or anything else for that matter.

vapodog,
Those "eyes" are nice mounts, nice rifle sling swivel bases, not sling swivels.

What sling swivels are you going to use on that rifle?

Surely you do not propose to use a twist of baling wire through the eye?

RIP.....that gun is a virgin.....it's never had a sling on it and I must reply.....I don't have a clue what strap and swivels I'm going to use.

I only cross bridges when I come to them and so far it hasn't happened.

I'd probably use Uncle Mikes super swivels with swivel locks!

Vapo,
I can't argue with such wisdom, your right, I need to build me another .404, but I find them hard to keep, somebody always buys them,

Nobody wants my pre 64 .416 Rem. with a 20" barrel, so I always have a DGR rifle, when the need is presented to grab a gun and high tail it to Africa.

Do you wanna sell or trade it off?

Uncle Mike's or NECG ones, but make sure to get Vero Vellini padded leather walnut 'Safari' sling (#V172231) to go along with them. dancing
