CZ 550 mag box needed. Login/Join

Hi all,
I have a quandary at the moment, here in Australia CZ 550 rifles have been discontinued as an imported item, before they ran out of stock I bought 3. Anyway, I am building a 416 Rigby on one that was originally chambered in 458WM, unfortunately I cannot source the correct 416 Rigby ribbed magazine box. I have ascertained that they only make 2 styles for the Safari Magnums, the 375 stamped ribbed style and the straight sided 458 style box.
Can someone point me to a source of one of these that CAN export to Ausralia, I am willing to do a straight swap for the 458 one I have here.
All help is appreciated fella's.

Cheers.

I have gotten boxes here, don't know if there are problems exporting:

You might do better with the 458 WM smooth-sided box than with the 375 H&H ribbed box:
Might allow 4 down instead of only 3 with the .416 Rigby.

My 500 Mbogo (.510/.416 Rigby 3") uses the smooth-sided box from the CZ 458 WM that it was born from.
Feed work of some sort will have to be done either way.
Reinforce the front of that sheetmetal box.

One could make his own sheetmetal box, or solder ribs inside of the 458 WM box.

Rusty McGee reinforced front ot this ribbed box:

Also these non-ribbed boxes:

You can see the warpage of the front wall of a used ribbed box below.
The non-ribbed box next to it was one of the above before reinforcement:

RIP, great info, thanks. I will email them to find out if they will export, but I doubt they will.
Either box will get 4 down, but I need the ribbed one so the rifle stays as close to an original 416 as possible. I may have to make my own, but don't have the specs of where the ribs go.
I'm still trying to find out if I have to change the follower, it's rather difficult getting the info needed since the importer dropped these rifles. I only just managed to get my hands on the correct extractor before they washed their hands on these rifles and parts.
Thanks again.

Cheers.

Just curious, but why were the CZ 550s "discontinued as an imported item" in Australia?
Was that a CZ marketing decision?

Nick, the 'story' we got here is that CZ was moving into military production and complete rifles would no longer be produced and available. This story is very dubious at best, but the importer is no longer bringing them in and parts are limited.
I have quite a few of the Safari Magnums, including a factory 'custom' in 505 Gibbs with all the bells and whistles except a jewelled extractor, I don't like the look of the bolt and extractor jewelled.
To find out there is a limited supply of parts has totally pissed me off, this rifle alone cost $4000 here, let alone my other rifles that were around $2000 each.

Cheers.

Thanks, 416. Yes, this "mil production" "story" sounds likes a cover for another reason.

I dont know if you can still get a one piece trigger guard-bottom metal assembly but they would be great.I got one for my CZ but still have the project on wait.It seems to me to be much more of a sturdy set-up compared to a box.The one I got was mad from Duane Wiebe.

Wiebe is in the bottom metal business. Bitterroot might have one in stock now.
