Jamison just completed inspecting and certifying the production process for 416 Rem Mag brass. It is available in mass as well as minimum quantities. It looks good in the pictures. I have ordered some, and will post a report comparing the quality to old Remington brass, and some Horneber brass if I can find some in time. Botttom line; it is looking good so far.

I hope their "inspection and certification" process has improved. In the past 4 months I have bought Jamison brass in 45Colt and 416Rigby. Both times it was the only brand available. In both instances the rim thickness and diameters varied greatly, so much that 7-10 cases per hundred wouldn't fit in a shell holder. Of course with these "non-typical" calibers (416Rem included) we have to buy what we can find, but I was seriously disappointed twice with Jamison.

I am glad I bought 8,000 pcs of Remington brass.A big bore is not the rifle you want to play around with using bad brass.I like the nickle brass the best of all its way harder.I am thinking of annealing some brass to try it out.I heard this really makes you brass last alot longer.I have not heard anything good about jamison brass like most places its either out of stock or backorder.I would not want to be my life with a cape buffalo, grizzly bear or lion with being with a less quality brass.Yes Bulk remington brass can be dented but i have ironed out alot of dents.I straighten out the necks with a loaded 416 rem mag round that is loaded with a 400 gr barnes monolithic it rounds the necks before i reload them.Good shooting and hunting!!!

It has. The brass first was made one month ago. They only released it from QA less than a week ago. If you want to make your own 416 Rem Mag brass, I described the process elsewhere on "Big Bores". Just get a Redding brand 416 Rem Mag form/trim die, and a box of #50 of Nosler Basic Belted brass. Polish the inside of the die as much as you can without rounding edges. Use Imperial sizing wax, Mobil One synthetic oil or Prolix to lube up the brass. I made some up yesterday. Perfect. Second method: look up 416 Rem Mag brass in the Reimar Johannsen catalogue. Order some 416 Rem Mag brass from Dieter Horneber. You will have it in six weeks. It won't be cheap, so what, nothing is. As for the .416 Rigby brass; Norma brass in 416 is available from three sources that I know of. ibid Horneber. If a rim is too thick, I have a machinist grind the rims in question down into specification. In the end, Hornady brass will become available. Buy 200 cases, and have your rifle tuned to that particular brand and lot number of brass. The world is full of challenges to be overcome. That is at least half the fun. Good luck in your endeavors. Both the 416 Rigby and 416 Rem Mag are wonderful cartridges! LD
