Looks like lots of fun!How thick is that steel plate?Whats next loading Raufoss rounds?

Hog KillerBaboon,
The plate was only 3/16th. It was the best piece of scrap plate that I was going to let get shot up.
For grins I talked Jeffe into some BP cast loads for his 550. A small fist full of Goex Cartridge and a 1 1/2oz+ bullet, equals big fun.

jeffeossoWOW forrest, that first pics makes that gun look like a "chipmonk" stock...
the angle really makes it look funny!!! i was dieing...
that's a 15 3/8" LOP and a 23" barrel, folks... yes, i am an overgroown, full grown bubba!!
the smoke on the first two pics is actually the bullet lube burning, as the jacketed bullets don't make near that amount of smoke.. .and its 1/2 a fistful of h335 on FAST cast bullets...
guess which bullet hole is cast and which is api.. this ought to be funny!!!
goodness, i had a blast yesterday!!!
thanks again guys.. for letting the recoil junky come on up!!

Fast cast! That's an understatement! 2400fps according to the Chrony. Talk about a ringer, my first shot of the day was one of those. Thought I'd start the day off easy with a cast lead plinker. I still say that load hurts more than my Wells with 650grain APIs.

invader66The 500 Jeff surprised me. I It did hit but not much more than my #1 in 458 lott with factory pad.(stock extention) I shot the 550 and just did not expect what i got from the 500. I'll be ready next time. I hope.

fritz454Come on Jeffe, That first picture is a daisy rifle right?
Looks like fun. You guys will be needing a 600-OK soon. In fack you're on your way to Ed Hubble status. Way to go

John
Actually Jeffe's rifle has a 17" LOP. It is just small by comparison to him.

dakota45056Very jealous of you guys having a private range! To fire my 500 or 600 rifle, I must travel 45 min to a private club that no one really knows about. I guess I am lucky to at least have that. The big formal ranges really want everyone to shoot of the bench with their peashooters and don't really like me to set up my chrony for load development.
Thus it impossible to practice multiple shots-magazine function, or shoot multiple targets at these big ranges to get tuned up for a big game buff or ele hunt.

fritz454Rip, Jeffe is a big guy. He and I have the same LOP so I surely know why it looks like a peashooter. My arms drag on the ground as I walk too.

Not many 17" lops out there. I think I'll have to sell my guns to Jeffe...or leave them to him in my will because they wouldn't fit anyone else.

John
fritz454,
Leave some to us shorties, we can cut them off.
