Just like the subject says I see they have a .600 JDJ, which is a .577 NE blown out to .620"...might be interesting, and easier/cheaper then a .600NE.

So, better to skip the #1 in .577NE and up? I've heard it described as "marginal" for those rounds before.

Would a CZ-550 work for a .577NE? As a single shot only, of course! No way a rimmed round like that is gonna feed good.

IT is not possible to covert a cz550 to 577 due to rim size. But you can build a 585 nyati.

Forget rimmed cases of any sort on a CZ550. It ain't gonna work. 585 Nyati's do work (with some pain) and the brass is available from Bertram and Horneber.-Rob

I would wait until A2 had actually manufactured t-rex brass, and current t-rex owners had commented on the quality before even considering building a t-rex.

Once you get over a 460 necked up to 50 cal, it is a crap shoot as to what brass availability will be in the future. With all do respect to Rob, the big turn off to me for the 600 OK was the brass, and that holds true for the 585 Nyati, 577 t-rex, and similar rounds. I even regret having had a 500 Jeffrey built, though I think I'm ok with brass for the foreseeable future.

After I get my .458 Lott, guess I'll grab a CZ-550 and have it bumped to the .500 A2...that'd be fairly simple, and still quite a bit of punch!

If you have to go over .510 in a bolt action why not just go with the .550 Magnum? Jacketed bullets may be scarce but you can make your own lead and if you have access to the equipment you can turn your own... at least the brass is readily available (460 WM).

sharps54, I keep seeing the .550 Magnum mentioned, I've found the big thread on it, but don't see the ballistics; do you know what's is capable of? It looks like an interesting project. Especialy if QC is making brass and Hawk is making bullets. The big question though: who to put it together? John Ricks? AHR? SSK? I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible; I don't need a "pretty" rifle...just a big one that goes bang!

Yes and the 550 Magnum won't be scarce on bullets very long as Bridger can make them by the thousands and Hawk is making a run for us.And other companies are jumping in also,

and 550 reamers, die sets, straight walled brass that is easy to get, and an easy 9000 ft lbs, are what seems like a winner to me.All 460s,495s, 510 ASQ/Wells, etc; need to be changed to 550 just as a tribute to average big bore nuts, who are doing this together without a big company
