hey, new guy here, have a ruger 77 in 458 lott. considering putting a Pachmayr triple X magnum model F990 recoil pad on it. want to know if i should get the large size or the medium. and is it just personal preference to get leather or standard pad? or is there some benifit. by the way i really like this gun and i just recently found out that there is a retired elephant farm in my county in florida way out in the boonies, he he he......just kidding. thanks for any and all help

My Ruger RSM measures about 1.75" by 5.00".

The Pachmayr F990 pad sizes are:

Small = 1.85" x 5.15"
Medium = 1.95" x 5.40"
Large = 2.05" x 5.70" (huge)

Actually the small fits. Medium is more than enough to sand down or get a creative flare with.

I like the leather face instead of the screen face print on the butt surface. Smoother mounting maybe with the leather face.

Black out the white line spacer with a black sharpie to blend in with the rest of the black pad. Don't know why they don't offer it without the white line.

1.5" thick will lengthen the pull or else you cut the stock.
