What rifle sling do you prefer to carry your big bore and why?

Going into the thick stuff it is wise to take off the sling.

But during the daily walks what sling works the best for you?

Gehard, I've used several different slings and, because I'm a small-statured guy, the wide "Cobra-Style" have never appealed. Used both 1" and 1 1/4" and can't tell a difference. Outside the NRA Shooting regimens, I've never found anything better than the Brownell Latigo-style. After their patent ran out everybody made them for a while but guess there wasn't enough Star Wars-factor to keep them strong in the market. Uncle Mike's made one for awhile I still see on eBay sometimes called the Quick-Adjust. I did have a sling swivel fail on me once (on a Pre-64 Mod 70) so am a stroooong advocate of the locking swivels now. Also a semi-strong advocate of synthetic vs leather material.

I use Uncle Mikes Sling on most of my rifles. Its the Military style. On a few I have used
a sling with no name. They all are leather.

I use either an Uncle Mike's or a Vero Vellini strap, both neoprene.

I prefer to shoot offhand whenever possible, so I use a Brownells latigo sling configured as a "Hasty" sling. I can loop up in a second and get off a fast shot that way.-Rob

While not the classiest, the best sling I have ever found is the PPsH military web sling.

Vero Vellini's slings are copied from this sling. Cheap, sturdy, and the wetter it gets, the tighter it holds. I have several of them.

SKS military slings work just as well.

I don't have a sling on the gun when hunting but do so if just walking somewhere.

I you use a sling, I would take it off for the thick stuff.

I find the Quake sling good - nice and grippy and
doesn't bounce.

when i went on safari in tanzania, the ph would not let anyone use a sling. i shoot off a heavy pack hunting groundhogs and just kind of walk around without a sling unless i am using a mil-surp rilfe during deer season. milsurps are too heavy to use w/o a sling.
