Jiri.408 Chey-Tac
Why .408 ? What is bad with .416 or .375 ? What is exact diameter of this bullet ? What do you think about using this round for hunting ?

<dcjs>hi jiri,
visit
www.cheyennetactical.com and take the time to download and read the articles dealing with development and testing of the .408 for details.
the cartrige was developed as a military round, thus no need to use a bullet diameter already common with hunting calibers, bullets are specially made anyway. probably they also wanted to have something "different" on purpose

.
as to hunting with this round, if you want to lug around such a rifle, why not? still, you'd need suitable bullets (Gerard?

), or just neck it up to .416 (has already been done) or down to .375 or...

JiriBMG: Yes, 40" barrel, made from something like titanium carbide or some ceramics, because it will have same throat erosion like 17/378WBY

, and brass will burn out in chamber, so it will not need extractor

etc . . .
