Check your e-mail regarding the second package of 376 brass......I've e-mailed and haven't received a response from you.......it should have been here by now.

It should be there by now, I'd think. I sent it in the original red Hornady box.
I've gotten the MO.
The only thing we can do is wait, as I'm sure it will turn up. Priority Mail, leaving northern Alaska takes as much as 10-14 days. I asked about this today, in an unrelated matter. Trust me, I sent it. ~~~Suluuq

I'll vouch for Suluuq being a good guy, and also for mail sometimes taking some time to arrive when coming out of Bush Alaska.

I'm sure he is a good guy....didn't intend to imply otherwise......still, when a package is late and the seller won't respond to e-mails it causes concern......

Today is day 15......maybe they are bringing it down on horseback? [Big Grin]

Nah, dogsled [Big Grin] That and the winter has been mild so not much snow, and open water.

Not everyone has daily access to e-mail. Heck, I've e-mailed Suluuq a few times and not heard back, so there may be a problem with his account?

I don't know if it's due to new TSA restrictions or not, but it seems that mail delivery has slowed down quite a bit this year. Our kids mailed some letters to friends in Kalifornia a few weeks back, and they still haven't arrived yet.

Mark... I feel a little uneasy that the package hasn'tr arrived yet, and yes, I did indeed send it to you.
As Paul mentioned, mail is often slow from my part of the country.
I get around to checking my e-mail about once a week, which is why it may appear I've been ignoring you.
Paul,if you're sending e-mail to my "old" address (the_hunter), I get around to checking that one about once a month, it's rarely used by me. Please use my new e-mail, and I'll respond.

Just seems strange to me that the money order, which I mailed first class, AFTER you sent the package, is already in your hands (and has been for awhile).....while the package you shipped priority mail still hasn't arrived after 15 days!

I think it may be time to have a discussion with the postmaster in your neck of the woods.....

Buzzgun -- don't underestimate the inefficiency of the post office! [Frown]

I think the difference in mailing times may be due to those of letters vs even small packages. When I lived in the north of North America, letters were quite quick, but packages of ANY sort were very unpredictable. The difference was much bigger than when I lived in more populated areas. I suspect the bottleneck was space on the aircraft... even small packages sometimes had to wait.

I think a bit more patience is in order... Suluuq has posted quite a lot and he seems like a straight up guy to me. (also, my experiences with the post lead me to think the worst of it before an AR "family member"! [Smile]

Letters are sorted by machine, packages of any kind must be done by hand. The local office here has advised me not to bother sending anything to Alaska by Priority Mail, as it will take just as long as any other package. I assume anything leaving Alaska will have the same delays.

Guys

I'm not worried that Rusty Gunn is trying to rip me off......he sent the first package and said to send the money order when I got it.......doesn't sound like someone who would rip another person off! I'm more concerned that the package was lost.....even if it is, the value is low enough that it won't break me [Big Grin] but I'm still not happy with the post office.......seems like a crime to accept money for something you can't deliver! I used the USPS website postage calculator and ran a check on the specifics of sending this package.......it said the estimated delivery time was 3 days!!!!! Today is day 16!

Somebody needs to talk to the postmaster and see why the package has taken over 5 times as long as the USPS calculator says it should!!!!

I'll be talking to my postmaster when and if the package ever gets here but, since I didn't send it, I doubt it will do any good........

I bought a wonderful carving from him. It took a while to be delivered, but what do you expect from a post office at the top of the world.

The missing 376 brass saga continues........

In my PO Box today was a slip telling me to come to the counter.....this usually means I have something that wouldn't fit in the box.....like maybe a package of 376 brass.....I took the slip to the counter and........ they couldn't find my package!!!!

On the upside, this box of brass has quite a story behind it, all the way from Kotzebue Alaska, misplaced by postal workers.

I know postal workers get bashed by many, but I've always been quite pleased with ours up here. They actually say Merry Christmas during the holidays, when you say you are shipping bullets, they know you don't mean ammunition, and will even talk to you about shooting and reloading.

I mail about 400,000 letters a week 52 weeks a year at the US Post Office. I get the same treatment as some one who mails a single 3rd class Christmas card once a year. Its like talking to someone at the DMV they just dont give a rats ass about your package no matter how good of a customer you are or how important it is. Fellas dont get your undies in a bundle it will get there when it gets there. Dont mean to sound negative just my experence.

Guys, there is no reason to get into a tizzy. If the package is indeed lost, then rusty can make an insurance claim and get reimbursed for refunding buzzgun.

FWIW, my wife ordered a booklet from Washington D.C. It was postmarked January 6, 2003.

She got it yesterday.

Three + weeks for a simple envelope, standard mail.

And the U.S. Postal Service is the best in the world?

Joe.

Mark... All I can do is apologize that the package hasn't arrived yet. You got a slip, but they had no package to give you? The package will be a small red Hornady box, with duct tape all over it.
Give it another week. I'd be glad to return some money if you don't get it. BTW I got the MO the day before I posted about it, not "has been for a while". I'll speak with the postal workers here and see what they can do.

Jeffeosso... that is very kind of you to cover for me. I'm sure the package will show up, but have no control over when it will.

Others... thanks for the show of confidence. Sorry about the inconvience, Mark.~~~Suluuq

It's very obvious that this is not your fault. Once you hand it to the USPS bunch, you can't control what happens!

The slip that was in the PO Box only tells me they have something for me, it doesn't say what or who it's from. The only package I am expecting is the one from you. When I took the slip to the counter, they looked for several minutes but couldn't find the package, they said they would have to ask the people that work the mail at night. Of course, that was Friday and the counter is closed on Saturday, so I'll have to check back on Monday and hope they found it.

If the package isn't found, I'll write it off as "stuff happens" and will order more brass if I can find it.

The only reason I started this thread is because you hadn't answered my e-mails or personal message. Since you informed me that you don't check your mail very often, that explains why I wasn't getting a response.

I hope that the package shows up Monday, if so, then all is well, if not, then I'll be having a talk with my postmaster.

Mark

PS: Jeffe, your offer was very generous, it shows the class of most of the posters on the board!

Buzz, Rusty,
If you got the slip friday, the package was still on the truck... but...

If no brass, the offer stands. I'll cover Rusty(or the USPS in this case) and Buzz can shoot his 376. I happen to be a little flush with that brass, at the second.

Let me know in a couple days what ya'll want to do
