Charles daly announced at the SHOT Show that they will be offering their Superior Grade Mauser in 375 H&H for lefties. Here's their announcement:

Left-handed shooters will get a break from Charles Daly with the addition of two new left-handed rifles joining the product line. For the deer hunter, Daly will add a left-handed .270 Superior Grade Mauser action rifle and for the Safari crowd Daly will be adding a left-handed .375 H&H Superior Grade Mauser action rifle to our line up of custom crafted firearms.

Their current retail list price $789 for the 375 and 458 in right hand and they are not asking for a premium for their lefties in standard calibers so it should be competitive. I guess bugging them for one for two years must have done some good. Of course I already found a Win M70.

I just noticed that this was my 1,000 post on AR! At least I was adding something to the forum this time.

I was at the SHOT Show, but didn't think of seeing them.

Are they available in Stainless Steel AND Left Hand?

Web link?

Thanks

Here's the link. So far it looks like just their Superior Grade (blue) Mauser will be offered in left hand. They don't even have it listed in their product catalog yet, just in their "What's new" news release.

I have e-mails dating back to 2000, promising these actions.

I hope to pick up a couple, but some of the European posters have made derogatory remarks about their quality.

george,
i have had several of the actions so far. in fact i got a left handed mini up for sale now. have only put a barrel on a lh standard action. i don't really like the new floor plate release but the fit and finish wasn,t bad, and a short time doing a little polishing made it real slick. must also shoot good the owner hasn't been back with any complaints.

Funny looking stock. Daly posted it in two pieces (Two .jpg's together on their page. A high school kid could reassemble them, I'm sure. Not this kid). Check out the flared grip cap.

I hope to pick up one. I would much rather get hold of a non-barreled action, but Daly will probably get burned by the lousy economics of selling to lefthanders before the product line gets that far.

Fjold -

Any news when /if the left hand Chas. Daly Mauser .375 H&H rifles will become available?

I am guessing these will be little more than the standard action opened up to take longer, wider cartridge, 'magnum' bolt face and longer (3.6 inch) magazine box.

Here 's hoping!

I actually gave up on Charles Daly and bought the first left handed, 375 H&H, M-70 that I found after the production run last fall.

I've checked their website and they no longer advertise the left handed 375 H&H in the "What's new" section and don't list it in their catalog either.

My gun dealer friend tells me that he can't get half of anything that Charles Daly advertises.

It makes you wonder whether there might not be a problem with th rifles. Some of our European Members refer to Zastava receivers as being 'soft'.

Fjold,

You are right, they do not advertise them as an 'up and coming event' anymore. That is what made me curious...

I think this is a pity, but I guess these were only the standard actions with the bolt face opened up, metal removed to enable feeding and a longer magazine box.

If any forum member has right handed .30-06 and .375 H&H mag Zastava / Daly rifles they could measure and confirm my dark suspicions. I have read Zastave have already removed a lot of metal(for a .30-06), so I am wondering if they have significantly weakened the actions?

I read they removed metal up front, not like the British rifle makers, who cut metal out at the rear.

Ho, hum. I think Zastava could be onto a winner if they could improve quality control and offer some up grades to the basic FN Browning Mauser action they are producing.
