My Not So British Classic African Rifle
Gents, I wanted to share the gorgeous rifle Wayne at AHR built for me. I left the engraving for the cross bolts and grip cap up to him, he chose to engrave the official flower of B.C.(my home), the Pacific Dogwood a really nice touch IMO. You could say I'm over the moon.
Specks:
Left Hand DGR 375HH
Stainless Steel 24" bbl
Banded Front
Banded Sling
NECG Classic Express
Talley QD with 2-12 VX6HD
Action Trued and polished
Single stage trigger set at 2.5lbs
New Bolt handle
Satin Gunkote
AAA English Walnut 14"lop Macassar Ebony Forend
Pancake cheek piece
Red Pad
Slim and Trim

Hope you enjoy

Excellent rifle. Love the stock layout. And Wayne has the best colored “cote” I’ve seen. Have fun with it.

Fabulous. AHR, by far, delivers the most bang for the buck in a custom rifle. Congrats!

That looks like a very nice workhorse, everything tastefully finished. Pachmayr Old English red pad I'm thinking? Put one on my Mauser 404 but would have liked them to be a bit more true red or orange rather than the pinkish red they are. Properly done can be installed without any sign of the screw insert unless of course done with plugs to cover the screws?
I'm a lefty but never owned a lefty rifle, I think I would be most happy with that one though.

clapThat's a maker that has a track record that all the rest want!!!
Very wise caliber choice; excellent looking: metal treatment, stock
carving and color; great additional features. You're going to get a
whole lot out of that RIFLE!!!
Which scope are you mounting, S&B, Swarovski?

I toiled over the scope for a while originally it was going to be a Swaro 3-9x 36 but I ended up going with:

https://www.leupold.com/scopes...pes/vx-6hd-2-12x42mm

allot of nice options on this scope.

Thanks for all of the kind words guys. I was struggling with the caliber for some time originally it was going to be a .40 of some kind. But when it comes right down to it a large medium bore will do 99% of the hunting I need.

I thought it could be used more effectively for most of my hunting scenarios.

Yes I'm another one who likes a nice straight grained stock. More like old classic British rifles were really like!

Your choice of a .375 H&H makes perfect sense for where you live. Smiler

At long last a proper Mauser type rifle with the Bolt Handle on the correct side.

Shame the gunsmith sawed the stock a bit short - add another inch and a bit and it would be perfect, I would also prefer the fore end a little longer, but I could live with it as is. Please wrap and send to me and I will look after it and use it properly
