gixxerWhere to after the 600 OK
Ed, where does the madness end? a 40# rifle that kicks with 190# of energy? Who's gonna stand behind the firing line to catch it? "Dude, why are you wearing the catcher's chest protector?" "Dude, I am Ed's rifle catcher!"
Man, I would sure like to see video footage of somebody turning an mbogo inside out with a 900. I know there are bigger BP rounds out there, but nowhere the MV of those things, huh.

D HumbargerAt what point do these thing cease being a weapon capable of being fired from the shoulder?

Grandpasezgixxer--the 900 may enhance my retirement---
I'll sell t-shirts, saying "I shot 900HE
and lived", for 20 bucks- tongue in cheek.
In reality, it is a great hobby, and
it is fun experimenting, to see what can
be done, and doing it with military
brass, to study internal ballistics,to
study using and adapting actions; you
learn something everyday.
Doug-we want to find out how much we can
do from the shoulder.Part of experiment.Ed.

fritz454Johnthegreek: I was just messing around with some 1" brass I had left in a machine after a job. If it was ever to be a real case it may be worth it to use the bore sizes. Only issue I can see is that there is no standard diameter for the bore calibers but a bore size that seems to be most prevalent may be found.
As far as what is reasonable, that's up to the shooter. I was planning on doing the two other versions of the 600 OK (the -1 and -2) but decided against it as the 3" version will get a bullet going faster than I want to shoot in a 14 lb platform. At 2400 I can't keep it from pulling out of my hand some of the time and that is not good form for DG hunting.
I can see a 700 if a scaled up action can be found or made to handle it. You need a .85 dia bolt at a minimum and proper thread size to make the action strong enough (1.250-16). A 1200 gr bullet at 1900 fps would be about the same as the 600 OK at max loads.
I think Rob said it earlier that the next level was to neck down the 600. There are at least two people I know of doing just that. Should be interesting to see what turns up. The .510-600 Ok will be worth watching.

RobgunbuilderA .585 on the .600Ok case is pretty straight foreward. It then becomes essentially a .577 Belted T-REX. In fact I believe AHR had a reamer made for that. Personally like ED Hubbel, I like straightwalled cases for simplicity and long life as well as chucking as much lead of a large diameter as possible. The .600Ok-1 has turned out to be a much better platform than I ever thought it would be and brass is pretty easy to come by. I'm still on my first 50 cases with some having seen full power loads multiple times. A .550/600 might be a pretty nice combo though and deserves to be born.-Rob
