I shot my 375 Blaser R 93 bbl with the fairly new Magna-Port bbl this weekend at the deer lease.
I was mounting a new scope a swarovski 1.5-6x42 with the illuminated circle dot reticle. I shot the rifle off of a "pic-nic" table at 200 yards.
After getting a zero with Federal factory 300 gr Nosler Partitions, and some good groups, I fired some Federal 300 gr Trophy Sledgehammer Solids. To my suprise they hit dead center, and shot just as good a group as the Nosler Partitions.
This is at 200 YARDS!!

So I went to my 300 yard gong, came up 7 clicks [3 clicks per inch] on my scope and hit the gong.
Once again the excellence of the Blaser R 93 is proved.

I am well aware of your fondness for BIG BORES,
however I think the 375 Blaser would make you a better "plains game" rifle.
Aleko of Heritage Arms is a great guy to deal with.

Of course the beauty of the Blaser is the fact trhat you can have several barrels, from 222 to 416.

700 nitro,

Before making a firm committment to the .416 Remington perhaps you would like to go to www.Blaserpro.com and have a snoop around on their forums.

There may be another interesting .400 caliber Blaser barrel in the cards in the near future.

Cheers,

NE450No2,

I shot a friend's .375 H&H Mag Blaser, not a R93 but an earlier model and it also was accurate.

Weighed like a featherweight, 6 1/2 lbs with scope, I think so had a bit of a kick to it.

What does your R93 weigh?

My 375 H&H Synthentic has a Swarovski 1.5-6x42 scope, a Murray Leather buttstock shell carrier and a nylon mountain sling.
Loaded with 3 rounds in the magazine and 8 rounds in the shell carrier, it all up hunting weight is 9.60 lbs.

The bare rifle by itself weighs just shy of 7.5lbs.

Last year as I helped my friend David get ready for his 21 day hunt in Tanzania we sighted in his R93 with 375 H&H and 257 Wby Mag barrels. The accuracy of these barrels was very impressive! Talk about your ultimate take down rifle!

Tony,
Did you take your Blaser to Africa this year or were you loaded up with doubles? I think the R93 in .375 topped with a Swarovski 1.5x6 is a great combo and wonderful plains game gun. It can also be very effective on buffalo, too, though I know you enjoy your a double for them. I've taken 2 buffalo with my Blaser with one being a one-shot kill when the buff ran maybe 50 yards. For plains game, however, when the shot can sometime get longer, it's an excellent choice for Africa, not to mention using its calibers for lots of great hunting here at home.

I took my 450 No2, and my 9,3x74R doubles.

In Oct my wife and I are going to Zim.
I know I will tke the 450 No2.
We will both take our drillings [both 12x12x30-06].

Tentative plans are:
We will both take a Blaser R93 with bbls in 308 and 375H&H.

She will either take the 9,3x74R or the 450/400 3 1/4", depending on which she likes the best.
