rws2 Dude, you're going to have so much fun with the rifle that it ain't funny. This rifle has the proper weight for caliber ratio and when shooting on the bench with the proper technique of sitting upright and appropriating all the sandbags available, it will hardly nudge you. To me the 375 and 458 WM in the Rugers just push you a bit. All the other stuff will definitely get your attention. Good shooting.

The .375's are ridiculously sweet shooters. I even let a few first time shooters try it, and even they liked it, not a single complaint about recoil.

Good ol' morgantown. The 375 h&h is a pussycat to shoot compared to the power it unleashes. Max out the credit card and get to Tanzania for a cape buffalo hunt.

Matt77, I'm surprised you've even heard of Morgantown before since its just a sleepy little nowhere town. But I've lived here all my life except the 3yrs. the Gov't borrowed me for some military work. Thanks Everyone!!! I'm anxiuos to shoot it but i still haven't gotten any ammo yet. I'm thinking of scoping it first with a Leupold Vari X III 1.5-5x20 or 2.5-8x36 Anyone,Standard duplex or heavy duplex???

rws2, Congratualtions on your new rifle! I bet you feel like a kid on Christmas morning! I think you're going to really like it. I'd go with the standard duplex reticle on the .375. I have a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5x with the standard duplex reticle on my Ruger M77 Magnum in .375 H&H. I feel it makes it better for all-around use. I used it in South Africa in 2000 on a plains game only hunt and I liked it. I have the same rifle in .416 Rigby but it has the heavy duplex reticle (same Leupold scope). Now if I can just save enough money to go after a Cape Buff with the .416 Rigby! Be careful with the Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8x scope. It's a little short. The Ruger Magnum has a long action. You might have to get extension rings to make the 2.5-8x fit. I do own a Leupold 2.5-8x but I've never tried mounting it on my Ruger Magnums. Just a heads up to check into it before you spend your money. -Bob F. [ 12-08-2003, 19:41: Message edited by: BFaucett ]

rws2 - I wouldn't get in too big of a rush to scope the rifle. It would probably serve you well to shoot with the iron sights figuring out each of the express sight blades. When I first began shooting mine, I had to replace the front side blade with a lower one. It was free with a call to Ruger. I have also ordered a white 3/32 front sight blade and plan on sighting in with that before I scope the rifle. That way, if I remove the scope for DG or any other reason, I will be very familiar with my iron sights. It has been fun, and a good way to break in the barrel. I went all around deciding which scope to buy, and finally decided on the Leupold Vari-X III in 1.75-6x32E, using Warne QD rings. It is said to fit the rifle fine. I checked out the 1.5-5 and just didn't feel comfortable with it.

The VX-II 1-4X20 works fine as well.

rws2 I just got a Leupold Vari-x III 1.5-5x30mm which has an illuminated German #4 Dot reticle. It is really sweet. Clear and bright and the German #4Dot is cool, sort of draws your eye to the center dot. And you'll love the eye relief! The Vari X III is to be discontinued in 2004 so you should be able to get some deals on these[?] I see that Natchez has them on sale with a coupon for future merchandise. Natchez Shooters Supply Have fun! Les
