We exchanged emails about a week ago. He's still around. I think he's a little over loaded with work right now. Not much time to play.

I think old age and slowness are catching up.

Not taking in any new work 'til a bunch of rifles are finished for all you patient folks.

Been thinking about taking in a helper, but it hard to turn some work loose to another. At least when a mistake is made now I know who done it!!

When a gunsmith falls behind on his work, it is because of one of two things.

He is either VERY good at what he does, and his works is so much demand. He cannot keep up with it.

Or, he is so bad, no one gives him work any more, and to hide this from us poor souls who might require his services, he tells us he is sooo busy that he cannot take on any more work.

I was talking to my friend Dwight Scott who is the best gunsmith I have had the pleasure of dealing with. He kept telling me he is falling behind, as he has soooo much work to do, he did not even think he can ever finish.

Well, to check the truth of what he is saying, I told him I was calling to ask him if he wanted to join us to go hunting in Tanzania in August.

It hadn't even finished talking before he was shouting YES, YES, YES!

Walter was listing to this conversation, and he said "I told you gunsmiths lie a lot."

I said "You are right, I won't believe anything you say from now on"

He said "Why?"
I said "Because you are gunsmith too!"
He said "Not according to you I am not"
At least we finally agreed on something.

I said to Dwight "I thought you were so busy?"
He said "I AM! But I have been going to Africa with you so many times, I am still waiting to experience a REAL hunting safari instead Walter's comedy show!"

Walter now is planning to somehow get Dwight "lost" in the bush for a few hours. Let us see what he says about that.

Having spent my entire life on the North West Coast, I know what John is really doing. He's sitting back with his feet up in front of the fire place listening to the rain drops pitter patter on the roof, and waiting for the sun to shine on his chronograph. PS If you had our rain where you live, all bottled up, you could get rich! Wayne
