I just got word from a contact at Winchester that the new Safari Model 70's will be available early summer. What early summer means, I am not sure. They are going to have one production model in .375 available to Shoot at the range day of SHOT show in a couple of weeks. Not looking great for most of safari Season 2010... I dont think I would want the first ones off the line anyway. Often better to let them get the bugs out first. Like first year on new model car.

The website now shows them available /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winston Churchill

It may say available, but they are not. They only have one gun and only in .375 for range day at SHOT, I can ussure you, if they had the others available, they would be there. Who knows on timing, but I am hoping it is early summer. I will take one for a test run, and then maybe buy it if I am satisfied (unless I find something else first... Jan. 2010 issue of American Rifleman, reviewed "70 Years of the Mod. 70." Just skimming over it, they seem to give good marks to the new products. A lot of the article was a discussion of changes, when, what, and whether or not the design went downhill "post 64." They think not.

I'm shocked- Shocked! that a gun magazine gave a favorable review of a new product from a major manufacturer.
