416Rigby cases; Norma or Hornady?
A 416Rigby Ruger no1 followed me home one day Smiler

I can get Hornady and Norma cases; no real price-difference so which ones should I buy?

they are both really good, to add to my statement -- whichever you can lay in a stock of will be fine -

Actually, Hornady are better in my experience.

Several years ago I got a batch of 100 Norma 416 Rigby cases. Somehow, it turned out that 40 of them weighed 337-340 grains and that 60 of them weighed 327-330 grains (or vice-versa, I can't remember). I don't know how that case weight mixup could happen, but it did.

Hornady have been much more consistent, although they are lighter, around 320 grains. I load Hornady Rigby cases to over 6000 foot pound muzzle energies without the slightest hiccup. No casehead brass flow, no sticking, no loose primer pockets. They are excellent brass. Powder Valley usually has Hornady in stock at prices considerably under Norma, but that is in the USA.

Enjoy the cartridge. Everytime I have a loaded 416 Rigby cartridge in my hand it looks and feels like Africa.
