Does anyone else have one of the new Heym Safari rifles ? If so, where did you get your scope rings ? Can't seem to get a set from Chris - any suggestions ? Thanks. ____________________________ .470 & 9.3X74R Chapuis' Tikka O/U 9.3X74R Searcy Classics 450/.400 3" & .577 C&H .375 2 1/2" Krieghoff .500 NE Member Dallas Safari Club

Frank, usually a lower-volume rifle maker will choose to utilize the base dimensions of a common brand, like Weatherby rifle take Rem 700 bases, etc. Someone must know? I'll check for youy.

Biebs, I sent a reply to your PM. Frank, the Heym Express bolt rifle is machined on the reciever for the Talley Rings. The rings go directly on the reciever, no seperate base required. The Talley rings come with either Thumb levers for a QD set up, or with an allen screw system. I much prefer the QD thumb screws. Both systems are designed to go back to zero. Those Heym Express Bolt Rifles are excellent guns, even if they do only have one barrel. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Tony: I was told a good while ago that that bridges were machined to accept a wider base than the standard Talley base - I think the same as a CZ. If it's the same as a CZ, then a special set of rings are required because of the indent on the rear bridge of the CZ, & the different rear ring for the CZ indent. If you or Biebs find out, let me know. ____________________________ .470 & 9.3X74R Chapuis' Tikka O/U 9.3X74R Searcy Classics 450/.400 3" & .577 C&H .375 2 1/2" Krieghoff .500 NE Member Dallas Safari Club

The Heym takes the same ring for both the front and back ring as the front ring for the for the CZ. Your choice at this point seems to be to either buy two sets of CZ rings and use the two front rings for your Heym, or wait until Chris has more in stock. Chris told me they were about a month out.

I called Talley's in South Carolina & they're sending me a set. They won't be a perfect match to the finish on the Heym, but they're the rings I need (just as described by Adamsdjr above). If anyone needs a set, call Jordan at Talley's. If you want a perfectly matched set for the finish on your rifle (not just Talley's dull blue finish), go through Chris Sells, but it may take a while. ____________________________ .470 & 9.3X74R Chapuis' Tikka O/U 9.3X74R Searcy Classics 450/.400 3" & .577 C&H .375 2 1/2" Krieghoff .500 NE Member Dallas Safari Club

Hi, Frank. Talley makes them and ships them to Germany in the white. We buy them in batches and finish them to match the blue on the rifles. As we discussed, we are in between batches now and waiting on more from Germany. We can also refinish the ones with Tally's factory finish after your hunt or trade yours out when the next batch arrives.

I received the rings from Talley, & mounted the scope - what a fine rifle ! I did quite a bit of looking & comparing before I bought this rifle - looked at quite a few higher dollar rifles in .416 Rigby at the DSC show - and when you assess the prices & offerings, this rifle, in my opinion, was the best value, hands down. If you're in the market for a high quality rifle - & these aren't inexpensive but neither are numerous other super quality rifles - you really need to look at the new Heyms. Wish I had one in .375 H&H for a twin to this .416 Rigby. ____________________________ .470 & 9.3X74R Chapuis' Tikka O/U 9.3X74R Searcy Classics 450/.400 3" & .577 C&H .375 2 1/2" Krieghoff .500 NE Member Dallas Safari Club

Frank, I Have the Matching 375 for your rifle! I just mounted the scope last week and shot it at the ranch, hit a six inch steel at 300 yards with it, very pleased. Shot .5-.75 inch groups from a bag with factory TSX ammo, can't ask for much more than that. I have the rings that Chris supplied, but I did have to modify them a bit, in order to fit the short scope on it I used. I would like a bit more elevation in the back ring to give me more up in the turret for longer shots. Both the 416 and the 375 are very capable long range rifles when properly scoped. I've made 400 yard plus shots on game with my old 375, can't wait to try this one out in Africa in September. MikeE What scope did you put on the 375? I ask because some scopes do not have much "UP" in them. You might need to get a scope with a Ballistic Reticle. Then you could sight in at 100 yards and use the reticle for you longer distance shots. The 375H&H has a trajectory similar to a 308. The Night Force 2.5to10 with one of their Velocity Reticals might work for you. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I used a Swarovski 1.7x10, same as the scope on the old CZ, 30mm tube. I bought this one with the ballistic elevation turret ( not on windage, I hold that ), it has plenty of "UP" but I used too much of it getting to zero. Moving my zero to 200 or 250 won't get me enough to reach 400 or 500 if I need. I have much time in the saddle at those ranges and would like to bust the baboon that thought he was OK that far out. I am going to add 20 MOA to the rear ring, it would be easier to take off 20 in front, but the scope is too close there, and there is a tiny amount of drag on the zoom ring versus reciever already. Adding a little bit to the aft ring, will fix both those. I like this scope/reticle/knob configuration, otherwise the NF or something else like it would be on the rifle. I've got one or more of most everything to choose from in regards to optics, but I like this one. That is a good scope. No doubt Swaros have some of the best glass. When I said "enough up" I did mean after the inital zero. On friends hunting rifles, I have many times, had to shim the rear ring to get more "up". This was before the days of bases with built in "UP". On Remington 700's we had a shim that went under the rear base to give us more up. You just have to be careful when you tighten the rings that you do not warp the scope tube and cause internal problems where you cannot move the "internals" with the power ring. In case someone is curious Talley 30MM rings mounted on a Heym Express are 5.640" from front to back. I have a Zeiss 1.5-6x42 HT on my 404 and it fits fine but my Swaro 1.7-10x42 would not fit as is. Perhaps Talley will make an extension ring someday. By the way the rifle is superb. Exceptional fit and finish. The action is very smooth to cycle and feeds everything I have tried perfectly. It will put 3 of the CEB 375 gr Non-cons in a ragged hole at 100 yards.
