Folks, The 2-7x33 leupold only just fits into the warne rings when mounted on my cz .375 which means that both the front and rear rings only have a tiny bit of clearence between the objective bell and the power selector ring. Is this the cause for problem ?? I like the attributes of this 2-7scope for a .375 but want to know if other people on there magnum rifles have a tight fit. If this not an appropriate situation I might opt for a 1-4 leupold. sorry for all the questions but you guy's have the experience and the answers (and also know how to drain my bank account ) Thanks folks.

PC, If it where mine, and I already had the cash in the scope, i would mill the FRONT base a tad shorter, and let the rig slip back .1 or so. cheers, best of luck jeffe

PC, on my CZ550 I mounted a Leupold 1-4x20 in Warne QR. This is also a tight fit, so maybe going from one scope to the other won't matter so much? My 'smith put a little "stay" infront of the forward mount so therefore it is mounted as far back as possible. When I get back from my little holiday trip I can post a couple of pictures of the mount if you are interested.

PC: It's only a problem if the eye relief is too long or too short for you. If the eye relief is right, then it hardly matters if you have no forward-aft adjustment room. Going to a 1-4X would possibly let you move the scope to the rear, but not toward the front. [ 12-31-2002, 21:39: Message edited by: Stonecreek ]

Stone creek, eye releif is great with the 2-7 leupold and I sought of like the attributes that scope has for a .375 kind of like an all round type out fit. Thanks for your help. I have ordered a 1-4 leupold, but I may opt for that on my .416 Yet, I am not sure. If I go with a 2-7 for my final choice on the .375 I wthink I will purchase a another with a matte tube and store the gloss finish away for something else. I don't know really I am still a bit unsure. The thing I like about sytraight tube scopes is they look the part on the bigger rifles. [ 01-01-2003, 07:41: Message edited by: PC ]

PC, this is my CZ 550 with a Leupold 1-4x20 mounted with Warne QR rings. The second pic is a close-up of the forward mount with the little "stay" in front of the base of the ring.

Thanks for that watchel !! Awsome looking wood on that !! is that standard ?? really nice jewelling of the bolt as well !! That is similar to the distance of the ring to power selector on my set up, so either my scopes buggered or the warne mounts are causing the problem. They will be getting reamed & lapped when I send my cz in for a devcon bedding job, to remove the rings as a problem. Even the tiniest bit of pressure with either set of warnes would not allow the power ring to turn, they had to be loose. What else have you had done to your cz, you can post more pictures of that rifle any time you like it's great ?? [ 01-03-2003, 01:08: Message edited by: PC ]

Thanks for the nice comments! The stock is standard (straight version), just lucky I guess The 'smith and I decided on these modifications to start with; bedding (removed the barrel lug), jewelling of bolt and magazine follower and mounting of the little "stay". He also did some "touch-up" work on the action and re-blued the bolt-handle. This re-blueing turned out so much better than the original finish that I'm thinking about having him do the rest of the gun also ... Oddly enough I had to reinstall the scope after I got it back because I couldn't adjust the magnification at all! I solved this by re-mounting the scope but with greatest care! The screws are now snug and tight and the magnification can be altered with a light touch. Long-bob, I haven't thought about the matter of wich side the levers should be. They aren't in the way at all for me as is and the advantages are easier removal (at least I think so) and I have a "flat" side to lay the gun on when I wan't to. Why should they be on the left side? I'll try to snap a few more pics of the gun during the week-end.

Wachtel, did you get you warne rings lapped ?? the problem you had with your scope is exactly the same (not being able to turn magnification ring) You said the smith removed the tie down barrel lug, did he replace it with a proper lug ?? also if he removed that lug how did you fil the hole that the screw used for the tie down lug went through ?? do you just put the screw back in the stick to fill the hole and make it look right ?? What loads are you shooting wachtel ?? Ragards PC.
