Well- My love affair with Jeffery doubles continues! I just acquired a 450#2 in excellent shape and am looking for some good loads from folks with experience. I've just tried 89 grs of Rl-15 with a dacron filler and 500 gr Hornady solids. Off hand at 50 yrds it shot lefts and rights basically to point of aim, but 2 inches apart. Good enough for Buff, but I think it will do better. The gun was originally regulated for the 80 gr of cordite load. Any suggestions?-Rob

Robgunbuilder If that double won't shoot no better than 2" at 50 yards you probably should sell it. ![]() Do the rounds from the left bbl hit on the left, and the rounds from the right hit on the right. If that is the case the rifle is shooting A-OK. 2" groups at 50 yards is very good. [Braggart ![]() Shoot the rifle at 100 yards, and just for the fun of it put up a 200 yard leaf and shoot it at 200 yards. Baised on how it shoots at 100 yards you could up the powder charge a grain at a time and see if the rounds hit closer together. For a good deer/pig/fun load try the Hornady 350gr Round Nose with 81gr. of IMR3031, or use your 89gr. of RL-15. I use 3031 because I have a lot of it on hand, but I have found that the same powder charge that "regulates" with the 480/500gr. bullets also "regulates" with the 350 Hornady. I call this the 75%rule. [Use the same powder charge with a bullet that is about 75% as heavy as the full weight loads and it should rigulate with the sights]. This has worked in my 450 No2 and in my 450/400 3 1/4". Keep us posted on how that Jeffery shoots. ![]()

NE450 #2- The right barrel groups right and the left groups left at 50 yrds. I agree going up in powder makes sense. I started low as a general precaution . I'm using the 1.19 X Cordite formula for the v450 #2. Frankly, My front sight is the same size as my target at 50 yrds. It shoots better right now than my 470NE does at the same range and I've killed 3 cape buff with it!- Rob

Robgunbuilder Sounds like that 450 No2 Jeffery is a good shooter. Try my 350gr. Hornady load and let me know how it shoots in your rifle. I have used dacron and foam filler in my No2 and cannot tell any difference in the performance. I like the foam best, you do not have polyester all over the ground and you do not have to weigh the foam, just cut it out with a sharpened [with a chamfer/ deburring tool] 50 BMG case. My double shoots Swift A-Frame bullets very good at 100 yards.

Graeme Wright shows 97 grs. of RL-15 for 2150 with a 480 gr. bullet so about 94 grs or RL 15 or a bit more should be your goal.

450#2- I'll try your 350gr Hornady load! I've had great success with that bullet in the 458Win Mag with Rl-7. However in doubles I try and stick with Rl-15. I believe 94- 96 grs should be abo ut perfect also. Ray- You know me, I never sell anything! just ask my wife or take one look at my shop!!-Rob
