Got an hour to run to the range, so I had to go try the gun off sticks to see if the sling stud on the forearm would bite me, and if I needed a barrel band installed.

I have to say that I was quite pleased...the recoil was very managable - not a ton different than a .375, and noticably less than shooting either one of my 12 ga mag turkey guns.

The stud didn't get my hand at all, and although I didn't feel super steady on the sticks standing up, I shot as well today as I did last week off the bench.

These groups were at 50 yards in 20mph winds gusting over 30mph. I think I am very satisfied, and now just need to practice once a week or so from field positions up until time to leave for Zim.

Tim

That looks excellent to me. I don't think you are going to have any issues at all shooting like that! What sort of solids?

Tim I think that will be a fine combination. Normally not much of a partition fan, but tested those 500s not long ago, courtesy of 465HH, and they did very well in the test work, sure they will do fine on that first shot on buff. Also tested the Nosler Solids, they did very good. Shooting like that, good bullet combo, no problems at all!
