If I'm not mistaken, the Tankgewehr cartridge was the basis for the .50 BMG cartridge, which John Browning incorporated in his .50 caliber machine gun.

I was able to handle one a while back. A single shot Mauser on massive steroids !

It was sold to a collector on the East Coast.

Many years back my step dad took me to visit a gun collector he knew. Man had an amazing collection. Including one of these. It was very large (as Olive Oyl says), but it balanced not too bad. No idea about recoil he had no where to shoot it handy. Cool rifle though. - dan

I saw one at a Virginia Gun Collectors Association show a decade or two ago, didn't believe such a thing existed. Ever since then, I have wanted one, but I don't know why. I guess it has to do with my childhood messing with vehicle drawn guns in the yard at Ye Olde Hunter in Alexandria.
