Saw one of these for sale. Anyone have any input or idea on how much an 18.5 inch barrel would effect the performance/velocity of the 375?

Either Rifle or Handloader Magazine tested a 20" 375 and a 338 by SAKO. They were suprised at how little velocity was lost. I had a 20" SAKO, [my brother has it now] and I currently have a Blaser R 93 with the Tracker 19 /3/4" bbl.
I have shot the short Blaser R 93 bbl side by side with a regular 375 Blaser bbl at 200 yards and could tell no difference in accuracy.
I like a short bbled 375 H&H.... And a short bbled 308 too.

I have a 19" barrel on my 375 H&H. Since I don't have another one to compare my handloads against, I have to say....it depends. I seem to find a loss of 100-200 fps vs book loads, but it does not seem as predictable as you might think. Factory 300g RN Winchester clocked at 2420....79g of IMR4350 w/Sierra 300g SBT at 2500. Lighter bullets seem to lose more velocity. Sure points well though....

When I get loads worked up I'm happy with I'll be glad to share them. If you'll be happy with 2500 for 300g and 2600 for 270g I believe it is achievable, at least in my Sako AV.

The critters won't care much.

Like NE 450 No2 I have a tracker in .375, there is very little loss in accuracy and accuracy is wonderful. It is perhaps the handiest .375 I own

REcoil and muzzle blast from the Blaser 375 Tracker with 19 inch barrel is quote reasonable, and way below .416 levels. Nothing to worry about at all.

The 375 Tracker is not a fun gun to shoot off the bench.
However when hunting recoil is not bad.

I once shot at a wild pig 4 times, fairly rapidly with no permenant damage, to me that is. Big Grin

I hit him at about 20 yards with the first shot, He spun and ran toward me.
Second shot missed, third shot hit below ear in jaw, fourth shot hit behind jaw a little low, that shot was fired at about 3 yards as he ran past me. Big Grin

I reloaded one shell ran after him and gave him a raking shot. He ran out of sight. I reloaded the rifle fully and after a short track a finisher ended the hunt.

I killed 2 turkeys with it too.
I never noticed the recoil or noise. I never do when hunting.

I really like this short bbled 375.
