Anybody have one? Are they worth $1600 or would I be better off going custom for a little more?

I liked what I saw at the DSC very much. Without having shot and used it, it's very difficult to say much more.

I bought one for not much over that dealer price through a gun dealer/range where I'm a member.

It's relatively light. The Kimber site says it weighs approx. 8lbs. On my bathroom scale it weighs just under 3.5kg, or 7.7lbs, with the sling. But the stock is well shaped and combined with the pad it's comfortable to shoot. I've let friends who've never shot anything larger than a .30-06 shoot it, and they were favorably surprised how light the recoil is.

It's also accurate. I've only shot it at 50 yards at an indoor range to sight it in and just for fun. So I didn't measure the groups. But they were nice and tight with the 270 grain corelokt Remington factory loads. My reaction when I saw the target was "Sweet!" That was pretty much the same reaction from the others who shot it; it puts a smile on your face.

What can I say? I'm not an accuracy freak, in that I don't care how small a group is when it's already more than good enough for the purpose the rifle will be put to.

I'll be taking it to Zim in April for PAC elephant along with my CZ550/AHR .416 Rigby. I know it'll put the shot right where the sights point at the ranges I'll be shooting elephant. Reliability is my most important consideration. This rifle feeds very reliably and smoothly. I've had issues with the bolt binding when operated from the shoulder with other stainless rifles, but not this Kimber. It was nice and slick just out of the box. It'll also chamber a round that's single-fed and not only from the magazine. So if I need it, it's a five shooter. 4 in the stack and one up the pipe.

I think it's worth it. I can't answer that question for you. But I can't think of anything I need a .375H&H to do that this Kimber isn't doing.
