Then let me ask you, would you fire a hammerless 8 bore rifle? If you do you are fireing it with both barrels cocked. Bad sears are not restricted to hammer rifles! I have several hammer doubles, some more than 110 yrs old, and I cock both barrels, at the last minute, which can be done in complete silence,by holding the trigger bact till the hammer is all the way back, then release the trigger, when stalking in close. clicking a safety off makes far more noise. A defective gun can double, no matter the type, unless intersepters are included in the design. Not many doubles have them, even new ones! I simply don't see the problem with cocking both barrels! A FULL 90 % of the double fireings have nothing to do with the type of double you are shooting,or bad sears, but letting your trigger finger hit the other trigger, and is just as likely on a hammerless as it is on a hammer rifle! If you are worried about it, then don't cock both barrels, it's free choice, I simply don't see it as any more problem on one over the other type! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith | |||
