Had my gunsmith full length bed the stock and mounted a 1.5X5 leupold VXIII. Using Hornady brass, Winchester magnum primers and IMR 4320. With Hornady 500 gr RN softs, Swift A frame 500 and the old Speer 500gr african solids, It is shooting really well. My practice load with the Hornady softs will be 78.0grs of Imr 4320 for 2100fps. The Swifts at 76.0 grs were running 2080 to 2092 fps and shooting into the same hole ( about one and one half inches at 50 meters) I think the construction of the A frame is a bit tougher than the Hornady and creates a bit more pressure for a given load. The Speer solids were going a bit slow so I'll have to add a little more powder. I'm planning on using the Swifts for my soft load and the Speers for my solid load. I bought a lifetime supply when these were on closeout at Midway. My question is how have these solids performed on buffalo, Hippo, and elephant at about 2200 to 2250 fps. Without considering the North fork or GS solids, how do they rate against the Woodleigh, Barnes, Trophy Bonded and the new Nosler solids? Any feedback would be appreciated.
