I have come across a long tubed leupold 4x scope the serial number is # 718518.
The new 4x leupolds are a fair bit shorter. This seems like a good scope to me for use on the big cz's as there seems to be a little more room for rings etc.
I am wondering how this would go on my .416 Rigby and the 2.5x that is currently on that would be moved to my .458 Lott which I will be getting built.
I would possibly get the tube replaced with a matte finish if economics allow as I hate gloss finish's.
What do you think folks.

PC, If you question durability, not a problem. I have the same scope set up in CZ rings as a backup scope. I have used it in the past on a .375 Weatherby Whitworth in a light weight Brown Precision stock. I then used it on a .416 Rigby Ruger No.1. No problem. It took a licking and is still ticking, no problems.

I loved the old long-tube Leupold 4X, and it IS a very tough scope that'll take a lot of recoil and still stay together.
One of Leupold's great, stupid moves was when they decided to shorten the length of their 4X scope (mid-'80s, I think). A number of good and versatile mounting alternatives went out the window when they did.
Some Leupold execs shoot at our local gunclub, and on several occasions I've petitioned them to bring back the old long-tube 4X. They don't seem too keen on the idea for some reason.
