Does anyone have any 375 H&H 270 grain Winchester Power points.

The ammo is no longer listed and I want to get a couple of projectiles to mail to Richard Corbin so that their profile can be copied for bullet making die. Second choice is Nosler partition profile but would like those Power Points.

I will try in Australia but I think greater chances in the US of A.

Thanks.

Mike

Mike.... why not the hornaday 270 grain spire point... I love that bullet and it has always been an accurate, and has a good BC.

Three reasons for power point.

Firstly, I have always loved the look of that profile. The only thing better (at least to me) is the silvertip but would be a big deal to make a look alike bullet. The notches on the power point can also be duplicated

Secondly they are much shorter than Hornady Spire Points

Thirdly, when all else is equal semi spitzers are easier to get shooting.

I have a couple boxes of these things but in loaded ammo. What would we have to do - pull the bullets and send them to you? I have a puller but wonder if they would work for die set up, etc. after having been loaded.

They stay in the US and get sent to Richard Corbin to bullet making dies based on their profile.

I am sending him over some Speer 308 130 grain Hollow Points as I having a scaled up version of them done.

We might get someone with some loose bullets here in US and save wrecking a few of those nice looking factory rounds.

But I sure am glad you have some so at least we now know there are some about to copy.

Thanks.

Mike-

I have several (about 200) bulk 270 grain Power Points.

I need to know where you would like some sent.

I am just waiting for Richard Corbin to send me mail address.

If you email me your postal address I can send you a cheque over to cover bullets and mail. I just walk into my bank and they make a bank cheque that works in the US.

You are a life saver.

PC,

To my eye the 270 grain Power Points and the 300 Silvertips, especially when loaded are the best looking bullets of all. To my eye Woodleighs look like pieces of shit.

Since you are going to buy some off me than I guess you will see the varmint/roo version of the 270 grain Power Point [Big Grin]

Actually they have a profile that is not unlike the 375 Nosler Partitions.

No resource compares to having access to yank hunters when it comes to tracking things down.

Thanks guys! The quicker he gets them the quicker we do too [Wink]

Mike,
The varmint type bullet in the powerpoint will be a real blow up affair?

Karl.

Karl,

The jackets I am getting are only .018" thick.

The 30/30 style flat point with pistol bullet style hollow point should be good. [Big Grin]

When they're in my ammo-pouch, I can't see 'em;
when they're in the chamber I can't see 'em;
when they're flying through the air I can't see 'em;
when they punch home I can't see 'em;
and when I dig 'em out they look real good only when the original profile has been totally wrecked!!

Who cares what the unfired projectiles look like??? [Big Grin]

Sounds Good Mike, you will have a fair time convincing me to change from Round Nose Bullets at the minute I really like the way the perform.

I want to get a digital cam and post a pic of the 300 gr Hornady RN I was telling you about the other day that I recovred from that medium to large Roo. I still would have thought that a 300 gr .375 Bullet would have pentrated the full length. I tell you what though he was put down very hard and did not even twitch.

As you can see I have ordered a round nose profile.

With a roo don't forget how big they are in the hip area if a large male. I wonder how big a deer or antelope type animal would have to be to have either hips or shoulders that are the size of a male red roos hips.

I think on the rear end shots the big rear opens a bullet and the rest of the journey must be like a big tin of water.

Your are correct Mike the rear end/hips of a roo are quite heavily constructed on the bigger examples and I beleive that they offer a good medium (better than telephone books at least) for the testing of bullet integrity.

A while back I dug arouind for a .585 caliber 650 gr BP express bullet from a similar shot on a really big buck I am sure it did not exit but I could not find the projectile I spent 25 minutes looking for it with a knife, huge damage to bones etc, spine ruined for about a foot along the section closets to the entrails.

I will hopefully get a shot similar to that to test your RN's.
