RMR on CZ550? Login/Join

Does anyone make a mount to put an RMR on a CZ550? I have one in .505, and a scope is simply inappropriate. An RMR or Doctor on a detachable mount might serve well.

AHR does.

They did one for me for my .505, but I have been quite dilatory in getting out to shoot it.

Ray- it's a small red dot sight made by Trijicon. A very very good choice on a DGR!

I have an AHR in 458 Lott with a RMR sight that has s on an AHR quich release mount. Love it ! Fast and accurate and removable in two seconds or less if it should go down. All my rifles will soon be equipped with irons, scope and RMR.

Nothing beats a red dot sight for fast shooting out to 100 yards. They don't fail if the batteries are fresh and are perfect for DGRS IMHO! I use em
On everything now!

I guess I'm like Ray. Never heard of an RMR.

What do the letters R-M-R stand for?

Thanks.

I must be getting old - I didn't know what it was either? Confused

The only RMR I was familiar with is RMR (Rocky Mountain Rifles) in Canada. A friend of mine in Alberta has one and it's pretty nice.

Thanks for the education on the sight. Big Grin

The RMR is a good but pricey Red dot. Equally good are the new Sig Sauer Romeos,Vortex razors and my favorites the C more railway sights. You want a 3 MOA dot that you can turn up or down. The old style RMRs didn't require batteries and are getting hard to find now. These things have auto shut off and can last thousands of hours so no need to worry. Keep your back up iron sights on your DGR just in case, but no need for a 1-4 scope anymore! You shoot shoot with both eyes open just like with a low powered scope but you'll pick up more speed than using the scope and no more need to pack "superglue" for detached eyebrows when you crawl the stock

thanks for the update, however Im a curmudgeon, thus old school, and I don't want any battery operated gadget on my rifles, Ive gotten by this long without such nonsense, guess I will go to my grave with irons, Ivory beads and 3X Leupolds! Not that I would dare suggest that all those who treck the tracks of the four cornors of the earth should follow suit, I know better than to suggest such a thing.... beer

The new RMR is nice with the smaller MOA dot.
I have the older Tritium unit with the larger dot
as well as a couple of Docter Optic III units
I use them on DR's and handguns
Both work well
I like the Docter III best

Does the RMR need to be removed from the mount to change the battery? I seem to remember from a few years back that was an advantage of the Docter over the RMR.

The Docter III does require separation from the mounting plate to change battery
I change mine every year
Apparently they have one at the factory that has been running on the same battery for over 3 years

Ray- I hear you but you really need to try a red dot sight. You'll become a instant convert. The batts last thousands of hours so no need to worry. This is a BIG advantage for your old tired eyes! No BS!

I set my Mauser 404 up for the original Single Point reflex sight back in '79. You could have a red or green dot, the latter being better in poor light. No batteries involved just some daylight or torchlight required. They used these sights in 'Nam too. It was a well made, rugged sight and gave no problem on the light 404. Didn't get to use it on DG but shot a few feral goats and deer and was fast for running stuff.

The Single Point was the same shape and size as the smaller 20mm Leupolds and used the normal 1" rings and I did indeed eventually replaced my Single Point with an EER 2x Leupold which was a straight swap into the rings I used for the Single point.

I find that most of the modern scope like reflexes are bulky looking with pronounced turrets and battery covers and the others like the RMR more science fiction/military looking on a classic rifle but these type of sights do work well for fast pick up, tracking and shooting of moving targets.

Here is my Redfield on an AHR qd base. Rifle is a Montana Rifle Co. .505 Gibbs. If I can see it, I can hit.it with this rig!

I can literally keep the red dot in my pocket and just put it on the forward flat when the Skinner sights ghost ring is not enough. The tolerances of the AHR base are amazing. Slides on easily.and 1/2 rotation locks it down TIGHT with excellent repeatability!

I have used these sights for close range work on an M-16/M-4/AR-15/AR-10.
They are FAST.
Years ago I put one on top of my SP-10 semiautomatic Remington 10 Gauge for goose hunting. It was legally sanctioned bird murder!
