You might want to contact American Hunting Rifles as they make stocks for the CZ 550.

Trapmonkey,

Basspro and Dick's Sporting Goods both have them listed at $ 799 with the German style stock. You may need to order in advance as I was told that both companies do not stock them but order them specifically for clients.

Gander Mountain where I live stocks the 550 American Magnun in 375 H&H, and they will order them in the larger calibers (which obviously would hardly move from stock at the store).

I may be wrong, but, I don't think there are any firearms dealers in the San Francisco area anymore.

AHR stocks are very nice.

They will also turn your blank to one of their patterns very reasonably and do the final inletting if you wish. So will Jeffe.

You might also give Serengeti Stockworks a try. The company is the old Accubond Company owned by Mel Smart. Makes a laminated stock that looks just like a regular wooden stock, but with the attributes of lamination. The company does stocks for the CZ 550. It can, however, get somewhat pricy as the stock blanks the company starts with can cost at a top end of about $2,200. They also have stock blanks for $259, or, you can buy a blank from somewhere else and the company will turn the blank into the laminate for you. Also, CZ-USA has aftermarket stocks for sale, but you pretty well have to contact the company. The stocks are listed on the CZ-USA website. Go to the site, click on accessories and go to the stock sections. You'll see the CZ 550s near the end of the thread. I bought one of the aftermarket fancy grade American Walnut stocks for my CZ 527 and that puppy was just beautiful. It was listed at $315, or something like that, but I had a buddy who has an FFL order it for me and he got the company discount dropping the price down into the $260 range. I had the lux model of the 527 and was having problems finding the scope quickly, so I got the American-style stock. Had to do some minor inletting to get it to fit right. The lux has the rear sight band on the barrel and I had to inlet a space in the stock for that, then glassbedded the action area as I do with every rifle I have, and now I have a drop-dead beautiful rifle that happens to be a half-inch tack driver at 100 yards. Good luck. Tom Purdom

trapmonkey: McMillan Fiberglass Stocks makes a stock for the regular CZ 550 and one for the magnum. It is $454 according to the website. I rather imagine if you can find someone with an FFL, that they can get you a better deal. I looked up the prices on the CZ-USA aftermarket stocks. The fancy grade American Walnut is $450 and the field grade American Walnut is $290. Again, someone with an FFL can get one for you for about 80 percent of that plus shipping. No matter which way you go you are going to have to go through UPS to get it. There's a fellow at the 24hourcampfire.com who deals in McMillan stocks. He might be able to get you one at a discount. That $454 is the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Again, Good Luck. Tom Purdom

In my first post I mentioned AHR because I assumed you were looking for a wooden stock. I own a CZ 550 Magnum in 416 Rigby and put a MacMillan stock on it. Here is a link to a previous thread on that stock.

I know that Brownells sells the Brockman stock as well if you want a laminated stock. this is probably the least expensive route. Here's a link:

you might be able to order one from High Bridge Arms in San Francisco--but you better check to be sure--but you can call Traders in San Leandro or Imbert and Smithers down in San Carlos or Redwood City---but you'll have a 15 day waiting period to deal with, so you will need to figure out that end---finger printing is required---chris
