I have used a red dot sight extensively in IPSC competitions. With this sight system it is extremely fast to acquire the target and to shoot accurately with up to a 100 meters. For the big bore rifle I have not given the red dot sight a second thought because I do not want to rely on a battery operated sight system when hunting game. But this is an interesting sight from Trijicon. Has some one used this sight before? http://nidec.es/index.php?page...irtuemart&Itemid=214 The RMR™ offers the dual-illuminated Trijicon property technology. The only one that provides day/night light with battery-free, Trijicon fiber optics and tritium. Accuracy is further enhanced with adjustments for windage and elevation and clarity is assured with the sight’s ultra-clear, hard-coated lens Gerhard FFF Safaris Capture Your African Moments Hunting Outfitter (MP&LP) Proffesional Hunter (MP&LP) History guide Wildlife Photographer www.fffsafaris.co.za

I have scopes on all my rifles. They are lepole and Burris . I donot like red dot scopes on my rifles. A friend of mine put a red dot scope on his 416 and that was the end of that scope.

I dont think we should paint all dot systems with same brush. Electronic or Trijion. I have had optical scopes fail, but then never a Leupold. I also worry about the reliablity and I dont think anything anyone says can ever remove all my doubt. Unfortunately, the most reliable site is a fixed-rear/blade-front iron site. As so often the case, the old classic method is the best. The Bushnell red/green dot is claimed to withstand 10,000 rounds of 375HH. Is has some optical advantages: infinite eye relief, zero parallax, two eyes open shooting - wide field of view (one or two eye). I wonder if Bushnell missed the boat, by not including a fine line cross hair (non electric) reticule that would always be there as a backup to the electric dots? This new trijion does look interesting. I am sorry I cannot comment on it. I do hope to try the Bushnell dot on my CZ550 458Lott with weaver base, some day...

I mounted a Trijicon TriPower on my Krieghoff .470 NE. Yes it is ugly and not traditional, but it really helped when I shot an ele and buffalo. I have put maybe 80 rounds through the rifle with the Trijicon mounted and have had no problems whatsoever with the recoil. I am planning to buy a Trijicon RMR only because it is so much smaller than the TriPower and it will be a better sight for hunting in the jesse. Leuplds new mini red dot has a battery life of 4-5 years. The new Aimpoint mini is even longer. Both will mont on the front reciever ring only leaving the action clear for speed reloads and nothing above the rear reciever ring to catch your hand on as you work the bolt. If you are a pessimist like me, simply change the battery once a year....

Please see my thread under Double Rifles, Trijicon RMR on K-Gun. I did that within the last month and it works good (all details on the other thread) Have shot about 40 rounds so far and am in contact with Trijicon customer service on 2 minor issues. First the small amber dot is supposed to be 7 MOA but seems to cover 9 inches at 50 meters and about 16 inches at 100 meters. I have been shooting mid-day in bright sunlight. Trijicon tells me with that much light the dot will "brighten" (enlarge) somewhat. The suggested fix in bright light is to cover the top of the fiber optic window and only let in light from the 2 sides. (Black electrical tape will do--do not store the gun with the tape in place) I will try this over the weekend and see if there is any difference. The second issue has to do with the click adjustments up/down and left/right which are supposed to be 1 MOA. My sight seems to move about 4 inches per click at 50 meters and may have to go back to Trijicon. I used the amber dot of which the smallest size is 7 MOA with no batteries. There are red dot versions with batteries available as small as 4 MOA. If you can see red then you have an option. The RMR seems to be quite rugged, a good choice for this type of sight and Trijicon has been great to deal with concerning the problems, we still need to determine if Operator Error is involved here. Would be happy to answer other questions, Hope this helps you. Just curious, What calibre and gun do plan to mount this on??????
