Old Black Powder Express Double Rifles are neat to collect and shoot -- if you can find the ammunition! Occasionally you can come by some such as the Kynoch 577 I show here. I can report that the rifles in that caliber lock up tight and shoot very well. As you can see, the (posed) photos of me aiming the rifles are a continuation of the series I posted yesterday of me using my modified Tripod Camera Stand. 577 BPE Ammunition (shoots reliably and well): Alexander Henry 577 BPE: 577 Holland & Holland BPE: R. Nice pair of guns. And an interesting idea for the rest, I do believe I will try that, if; I can find my old tripod. I guess that is 50/50 at best. | |||

Thank you, a_p. The Alexander Henry is the most interesting. It is inscribed on the barrel: MADE BY ORDER OF MAHARAJA MAHENDRA SINGH PATIALA, PUNJAB, LAHORE, INDIA, 1875 ALEXANDER HENRY EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND Slightly truncated (and from the accompanying paperwork). I intend to take close-up photographs of barrel markings, folding leaf sight configurations, lock details, engraving, etc. of each gun sometime early next week. I am going to be busy this weekend -- the guns have to be removed from the safe and the photography equipment properly set-up and positioned to insure high quality images.
