Overkill.600 Overkill V&S .700 BMG IMP
The .700 BMG IMP can push a 1000 grain bullet at 3000-3100 FPS with a .36 INCH barrel.
But when it have a .26 inch barrel it only get around 2800 FPS with a 1000 grainer. with around 320 grains powder
And if the .600 OK-1 can push a 900 grainer at 2300 fps. i think the .600 OK-3 van get a 900 grainer up to 2600-2700 FPS with a 26-28 inch barrel.
So the .700 BMG IMP is not so much more powerfull than a .600 OK
Robgunbuilder, Hubel!?!
How many grains powder does a .600 OK-3 take with a MAX load with a 900 grainer???
Just some toughts! // OK

RobgunbuilderOh about 185 grs of H414. That ought to hurt!-Rob

OverkillThanks RGB! do you think it will make 2600-2700 FPS with a 28 inch barrel?
//OK

jeffeossoJesu, OK, you are aptly named
Since I am a non-brake shooter, I can't even begin to imagine totting a 16# rifle, that has a stock, essentially, of tig welded mercury tubes!!!
I would like to watch someone else shoot one of those, but I know my absolute limit is a 577 nitro. The 500 jeffe makes me pay enough attention, but it sure makes EVERYTHING else I have feel like a 22.
But, if i had to choose one, of these behemouths, it would be the 600ok, as it can fit on a sporting action. I haven't seen anything that fits that for a bmg based monster, except single shots.
here's an Idea...
shorten the 50 to, say, 3", and make it fit in a 550?

KarlOverkill,
I don't know what Rob's 600 OK-3 is but any case with 185gns powder will not be clocking up much more than 2500fps with 900gn and a 26" barrel.
35% less power than the 700BMG.
Karl.

KarlRob,
actually I was wondering about a test you did on wood I think with your various calibres and solids.
How did the 700Bmg stack up against the other hunting calibres and the 50BMg itself for penetration?

OverkillKarl!
I think that Rob or Hubel said that the .600 OK-3 with a 26-28 inch barrel will reach 2600FPS or more..

GrandpasezI gave a figure of 2600 fps based on me
thinking that the OK-3 would be
holding more powder than Rob mentioned, due to the fact that it had a case .3 in longer.I am referring to a slightly compressed load of ball powder, H414 or W-760. About 200 gr in a 28 in barrel. The OK is 3 in long and OK-3 is 3.3 in long.Ed.

KarlOverkill, that's still over 200fps less than the and with a lighter bullet.
If you want to juggle figures like that you can make the 458win look no more powerful than the 45-70.

OverkillKarl!
Yes, but you can use the .600 OK for hunting.. tell me how you are going to carry a 15 kg (30 ibs).700 BMG IMP a hole day?
No way!

KarlTsk!Tsk! Don't go slipping off into other realms Overkill.
Your point was the 700 is not much more powerful than the 600 and my point was 35% more power is generally considered 'a f ***** shitload more power' in the firearms world.
Karl.
