Rich!! Call the man on his phone and ask him so the guys will know the real reason.

Wasn't there another guy who closed shop too? Who was the other bullet maker?

The reason people close business's is because the aren't making enough money otherwise they'd still be doing it.

Yeah, maybe him going under had something to do with Swift just raising their price on 300 gr. A Frames. Don't know about the heavier bullets, but they're up eight bucks in a month. That's radical for Swift, because they were keeping prices under control compared to Speer and Hornady.

now is the time to chat with Macifej, and see what he thinks about making some similar designs in soft point.

Would it work, you think, to run a 3/`6ths drill about 5/16ths in and then thread it, so that molten lead could be poured in. The threading would keep it from coming apart.

From the thread on the 'African Hunting Forum':

"Mike told me he had two options keep on going as was or invest another xxxx$ to increase production and empoly people and have all the on going issues that has with it , which did not appeal to him, so the only option left was to shut shop which he unfortunatly chose
and no he did not sell his operation to
another manufacturer."

Also, Mike was working 18 hour days, which is simply not tenable for the long term, not matter how much we all love his bullets.

Rich,

I'm happy to make anything you guys want as long as I'm not handling lead or anything else nasty. Machining the hole or threaded hole in the nose is a no brainer. If you can conjur it, I can make it!!

I'm not sure why you'd want to go through all the work to fill the nose with lead. As Prof242 demonstrated with the "Elk Grenade" we did for he and RIP - it's easy to flatten your quarry with a properly designed monometal zinger.

I deleted my post out of respect to Mike. It is his business and his decision to stop for whatever reason(s). I also believe we will see Northfork bullets again somehow, from someone, sometime. "Truth and Honor".

The only easy day is yesterday!

He stopped because business was too good? Only in the firearms industry.

is this a great country, or what? 8-second Harleys from the factory, breast implants for all with a couple grand to spare, and now a bullet maker who is so successful he decides to shut his business down! You know, my grandfather once told me that this was America! and anyone could grow up to be president...I am beginning to believe that, considering the list we have on either side this year!!

Oh, well, as long as I can cast good bullets myself and Macifej doesn't decide to big city on me...
