Have any of you shot the 450 grain Barnes Triple Shock out of your Lott? If so what load did you use and what was your performance like? I want to take my new toy to Zambia...buff, hippo and croc are on the menu...I feel the 450 grain loads will shoot a bit flatter and make this rifle more versatile. Any thoughts? I could always take my Rigby and/or .375 but..... I wouldn't hesitate to use it on buff. I have seen published loads that deliver over 2,450 fps with that bullet in the Lott. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I've only shot the std 450 gr X's out of a lott. It is a very long bullet, so you'll need to stick with a slightly faster powder, something like RL-12. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

Quick target shows the below trajectory data for the 500 hornady soft @ 2265fps Sight in 3.4 inches hi at 100 yrds 150 + 3.0 200 0 250 - 6.0 300 - 15.1. That seem pretty darn flat. you would never be more that 3" above or below the line of sight out to 225 yrds. Thats a long long way to be hurling those big ol bullets at some poor critter. If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

RL-7 gives 2,400-2,500 handily, in the Lott. Reaction to the shot on buffalo is gratifying. Penetration is straight and deep. IMO, the 450 mono's are the way to go with either the Winchester or the Lott.
