Rusty,

feeling a bit naive this morning...? The ad is very misleading, unless you know about Ballard Rifle Co., in Cody, Wyoming.
Their 1885 is the Winchester Model of 1885 (browning patent). Or, maybe I am...when I see Ballard I think of the real Ballards. It's like seeing an ad for a Pre-64 Winchester bolt action rifle...and finding out it's a Model 54.
I looked at the picture and said "...that's no Ballard, that's a HiWall...".

regards,

Rich

No just looking a rifle, I've never seen before. Thought it interesting that it was chambered in 450/400 3 inch. I'm sure this is just another rifle design under the Ballard name. I wouldn't know a Ballard if, Jeffe gave me one!

The present-day Ballard Rifle Co. makes the finest 1885 High Wall repros, IMO. Some think they are nicer than original Winchesters. Only thing I don't like are the aftermarket sights which give this otherwise fine rifle the look of a parts gun.

Fla3006,

right on there...it should have a three leaf express sight on a quarter rib.
