I need the rim diameter of 577 Basic brass for a project I am researching.I've got some on hand,but just moved and can't find it or course.Any help would be apprechiated. ------------------ | ||

Brian M, Deafdog is right it is .750, in generad terms it is the same Dia, and thickness of a linclon penny! This is handy when identifying chambering in an unknown rifle. There are lots of things about guns that can be determened by the size of several American coins. All old time "MAKE DO" trivia.  ------------------ | |||

Mac, Thanks for the info.Not trying to find out what a gun is,but am looking to have a Browning B78 rebarreld to 577 2 3/4 inch and needed the rim diameter to determin if the the action will need to be opened up.If it needs to be,the project is scrapped and I'll pick up a Sharps repo in 45/120 3 1/4 inch instead. ------------------ | |||

The case measures .659 just ahead of the rim. Mac, There is no way on earth a 577 could be rebored on a factory Browning 78 barrel-the barrels usally only measure .6!  I'll try out the penny to see if the action will need to be opened up.I would be doing a 577 2 3/4 inch,not the big 3 inch NE.750s around 1800 FPS.Recoil ought to be around the same as a 8 1/2 pound 458 Winchester,which I am used to.The Browning has a very straight stock so it should transmit recoil fairly well.I will though be sure to put a HUGE Decelorator pad on it. ------------------ | |||
