simmonsgunsfirst big bore build.
Hi everybody, i am building my first big bore, it will be a 458 lott.
Mauser 98 action with blue print and trueing work here in the shop, and a barrel i bought from my friends at CZ.
This being my first big bore i thought it should be something painfull enough to make my friends not want to shoot it.
I will need some help on this project and would just like to hear anybody's answers as to loads, stock choice and a brake. whatever is offered i will be gratefull for the help.
As for sights i will be building a banded front and a express 2 or 3 leaf rear.
Will, next time your in the shop stop by my bench, i'm the grumpy looking one.
Thanks guy's. Paul.

jeffeosso23", no brake, light as possible, 15"LOP if you ever plan to scope it, and shorten if you like.. never under 14" in a light lott
its tough to get 5 reloads out of most vunderkin loads that claim 2300fps+
lyman peepsight, william front, recoil lug on the barrel..
way faster and better to buy a cz in lott, bedd and xbolt

simmonsgunsA CZ would be good but, i have $40.00 in the barrel and $50.00 in the action.
bartering and i am a pack rat, i paid $100.00 for 2 Mauser actions and one is for the lott the other is a 308 build i am working on as i type.
I'm a underpaid gunsmith, what i can't afford to buy i have to build.
Barrel length sounds good and LOP better, i would hate to get scope bit with this thing.

maddenwhA great round with great versatility. I would suggest loading it down to win mag or even 416 levels at first. You could even shoot 458 win mag ammo just to get a feel and work up to the recoil of a full blown Lott. You'll want to get it sighted in and never have to shoot it off the bench again, at least for a couple of weeks.
