I've had many excuses for not shooting my Remington 700/.375 RUM that I bought about 5 years ago --- hand surgery; open-heart surgery; divorce! Roll Eyes
I'm here to report that my hand is fine; my heart is healthy and I'm happily remarried! dancing
So, as I type this one-handed because I had the other hand operated on last week, I made sure it wasn't going to be another excuse to not shoot 'THE .375'.

What I can tell you is this:
my Beretta 1201 FPG3 Police 12-ga. shotgun with 3" slugs kicks HARDER than the 700/.375 RUM.
That's for those that might have any trepidation when it comes to hard & fast recoil! Oh, yeah! Big Grin

I took a LOT of guns to the range for 3 consecutive days prior to the hand surgery to get the bug otta my system for the 3 months I'll be off work.
I worked my way up to the .375 by shooting the 1201 immediately before it.
To my surprise, it was at about equal with the 12-ga. coming out as my 'Most Brutal' long gun!
I'll post some pix below.
Thanks for your patience over the last few years as I finally get to report about the .375 RUM.

The rifle may take other forms with stock and scope changes, etc.
That J-lock is being replaced by a Callahan unit.
I LOVE this .375! clap

Do you shoot that beast prone off the bipod? Ouch!

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

Not yet...
I enjoyed the first 2 rounds so much I popped in a couple more. This was at a short distance indoor range, standing up.
The other guy in there stopped me for a second and told me to look through the window at the next bay when I fired the shotgun...everybody next door was staring to see what the hell the BOOM! was!
They did it again when I moved to the rifle. Big Grin

One thing I need to mention that is the most important of all in this thread:
I got the kids in the divorce.
Just wanted you to know I got my priorities in the right order. thumb

Bus, nice of you to wake em up at the indoor range. Everybody needs to be around some big bores now and then. Keep it up and good luck at recovery on the hand so you can get back to whats important, shooting!!

I actually enjoy shooting my RUM more than the 12ga cause my 870 is so light it comes at you pretty fast (so it feels) compared to the 375. Yea, the indoor range gets you a lot of attention when you light one off. They all wanna watch, but as soon as you offer it up they shy away.

I can totally agree with you on this one. I'd SO much rather shoot any of our "biggies" (416 Rigby, 375 H&H, various Weatherby mags, etc) than my 12ga pump shooting slugs. The recoil is pretty stout to begin with, especially in a 7.5lb gun, and the stock design is totally wrong for that application.

My .416 Rigby kicks less than my 3 1/2 inch turkey gun. HOWEVER, I only shoot the turkey gun twice a year, once to confirm pattern (from Lead Sled) and once at turkey while excited. And, if I yank the shotgun trigger, the pattern saves me. Big Grin

The .416 must be properly shot many times from sticks at little targets.

I'm going to reassemble my Remington 870 Super Magnum into it's 'Turkey Mode'.
It will shoot the 3 1/2" Magnum loads through the 26" ribbed bbl.
I'll be putting my Choate pistolgrip buttstock back on it.
It also wears a Millett scope saddle mount and the NIKON TurkeyPro 1.5-4.5x20 scope.
The other 'doo-hickey' I put on is the 4-shot SideSaddle shell holder.
I've been told the 3 1/2" Magnum will also wake the dead!
As soon as I'm healed up and get my right hand back into action, I'll be grabbing that 870 and the .375 for some more well-deserved punishment!
