I put a Brockman's pop-up peep on my Win Mdl 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H. I left the factory ramp and front sight blade on the rifle. I tried to sight in my rifle using the peep sight at 25 yards. Going through the range of adjustments in the peep, the rifle shoots 2-6" low. So, I need buy a lower front sight blade and maybe a new, lower ramp. Since I'm changing, I'll goin with a fiber optic sight blade. I do not want to have to make a bunch of repeat purchases, so what brand and what size do I buy and from whom? There is a formula for determining how much lower you need the frony sight to be, based on how much you need to move POI and the distance from front to back sight. I don't know the formula off hand but I think its on NECG's website, and in any event, they will tell you their best guess if you call. Order from them and if it isn't right, they will take it back and send you the right one. http://www.newenglandcustomgun.com/ BTW, best to remove the rear sight, or at least the blade. Hello, If you have access to 100 yard range/distance, try bore sighting the rifle. Use bullseye target, something you can clearly see through bore and line up rear sight accordingly. Rule of thumb, for each .008" of change in front sight blade/bead,etc. you will alter the POI approx. 1" at 100 yards. (such movement works for both rear and front sight, front is moved opposite direction you want to make impact) Not exact but on a normal sight radius, 20-26" barrel plus receiver length, this usually works. Would assume the current front sight is std. dovetail blade/bead type and since you are lowering and going to replace it, file away, taking measurements and then shooting or bore sighting as mentioned. For the actual formula, Brownell's Catalog offers it as well. | |||
