Ditto Ray A. The only buggaboo is that with lots of firing of the shorter .458 Win Mag in the Lott chamber, it may erode the neck of the Lott chamber and cause roughness that could make extraction less than smooth at the critical moment, when you went back to full length Lott ammo. .458 Win Mag chambers have a freebore that is about 0.750" long. The .458 Lott has a freebore that is 0.460" long, and when you add the 0.300" extra length of the Lott case over the Winnie, the total freebore is about the same for a Winnie fired in a Lott, as for a Winnie fired in a standard Winnie chamber. Approximately speaking.

I could never see any difference, besides what difference would it make within reason, a big bore is for shooting big targets at close range...

I understand it is like shooting a 38sp in a 357 mag, but never quite as accurate as in a 38sp.

Never noticed the loss in accuracy but the loss in penetration can be scary. The .458 bullets don't enguage the rifeling quite square on the the bullets SEEM to be more susceptable to tumbling. Seen it a couple of times and see one where it worked just fine.
