posted 25 April 2005 04:15 I have a few 416 Rigby and 404 Jeffrey rounds that fail for whatever reason to chamber. I need to disassemble them and try again. Brass and bullets for this range of cartridges is not cheap so I don't want to just pitch them. They will not fit in my "hammer" style bullet remover. What is the best way to get these bullets pulled. Needless to say I put a good stiff crimp on them as well. Thanks Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

Make yourself an inertia puller utilizing a shell holder maybe. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

My hammer-style inertial puller will work with the .404 Jeffery. I have collet pullers to use in the press for the bigger stuff. RCBS makes a pretty good range of collet calibers to go with their: "Bullet Puller W/O Collet P/N 9440." The .416 collet you need is: "Bullet Puller Collet .416 P/N 9434."

D HUNTER, go to page six of this forum and read "pulling bullets in big bores" There is a very simple way to do this using p.v.c. pipe. Hope this helps you out. Charlie

I recently loaded 50 416 Rigby rounds and they all failed to chamber. Thorough inspection uncovered the fact that my sizing die had a fatigue crack straight up. I used a Hornady cam-loc puller with great success pulling them fairly quickly. RC Repeal the Hughes Amendment.
